Where in Houston

Do you go smoke? Are there any decent cigar bars around? I've heard of the Downing Street Pub, but I've heard its overly pricy. I'm looking for somewhere near downtown or south of downtown where I can kick my feet up, drink a glass of something or other, and smoke a nice cigar. I don't want to feel like I have to be wearing a tie to fit in, either. I am always dressed nicely, but I don't want anything too stuffy.

Any tips? I haven't found much in the way of a search.

Well, I don’t get out a whole lot, but when I do I go to Downing Street or to some of the bars in the Rice Village. They have a great B&M in Rice Village called the Briar Shop. The ladies in there are very knowledgeable and they have a wide selection of cigars. If you have never been to the Downing Street Pub you need to go, they have a dress code, but it’s reasonable. You can’t go enjoy a cigar in a tank top or cut offs, you just need to present yourself as if you were going out to eat at a restaurant. There dinks are not that pricy, but I would not buy a cigar there. I never go downtown so I couldn’t help you out on that end, but if you ever want to go have a smoke shoot me a PM. I hope I helped you out a bit.

Sounds like a plan, my g/f's sister had a baby this morning so she'll be busy with fam for the next few days. I may try an stop in on Saturday night to the pub. Is it couple friendly? My g/f doesn't smoke cigars but will go if its not to terribley smokey.

Yeah, it’s not that smokey the bar is pretty well ventilated. My wife and I have been there a couple of times in the past and she thought it was great. She does not smoke but loves to drink. They have amazing chairs to sit in and a huge walk-in humidor in the middle of the bar. You definitely need to go and check it out, if you go this weekend shoot me a PM. My wife could go into labor any day now, so I am not for sure if I can get out of the house, but definitely let me know if you decide to go. :thumbs:

A bunch of folks from several boards are planning to get together at Slainte Irish Pub on Saturday at 8 or 9pm (RTDA!).
My understanding is that they are cigar friendly (but bring your own, they have no humi).

Yeah, I know of a few guys coming into town for the RTDA that are meeting at Slainte. I think its supposed to start around 8. I'm going to try and make it out if I can.
