Ok, I'm new to the cigar game and I was wondering if some of you more experienced people could give me a brief intro to what the different sizes are called and perhaps some tips to enjoying a good cigar, what kinds of lighters you prefer and is there something you drink / or perhaps dip your cigars in to make the experience that much more better. I've looking briefly around for a posting already similar to this one before making it but there is soo much about cigars I'm not familiar with yet, soo many different companys and types of cigars its alittle over whelming. Thanks for all the help guys

MilesMingusMonk has you covered on the sizes.

I prefer Zippo lighters but I'm sure you'll hear people tell you that they "taste the fuel" which I don't believe is possible.

I drink all kinds of booze or just plain diet soda or water when I smoke a cigar. Lately, I've been drinking single malt scotch.

Don't EVER "dip" your cigars in anything.

LMAO!!

I had to go look that up because I didn't think you meant "Fort Worth, Texas" seein' as how you're from Washington an' all!

well the only reason i ask about "dipping" is ive heard some storys about people dipping it in some kinds of liqour like cognac or something of that stort to give it some kinda flavor or smoothness or something... I havent done it yet just trying to understand what the general population does and how they enjoy theirs to make sure I'm doing it correctly and not missing out on something that would better my experience.

"For The Win" Bit-ches!!!!!!!!!

As for the Donk-man, Hit up the Newbie sampler thread and these guys will get you started right. In the beginning, i suggest drinking water or coffee so that you can taste more of the cigar than a drink. This way, you can decide which cigars you like before trying different pairings. You may not like a Fuente and bourbon, but you may like the Fuente on it's own. You won't know until you actually have the Fuente on it's own.

And as others will undoubtedly say, "Smoke what you like, like what you smoke". (Once you figure out what you like, that is.)

Developing a palate for fine cigars is a hobby in of itself. I would suggest that you find a B&M (cigar shop) and dig in. There are a lot of older threads on this forum that are dedicated to "beginner" cigars or less expensive yet tasty smokes. Everyone's palate is different, so learning what you like is really all part of fun that this wonderful lifestyle has to offer.

Welcome to the wonderful world of cigars. I wish I would have made it here faster!

The same people mix champagne with fruit juice and stick an umbrella in their drink. ;)
