2007 God of Fire Dinner

Man I'd love to go, but alas it's more than a bit rich for my blood. I'll spark one of my GOFs that very night in unison with the celebration.

You can have my seat. I'll be at home having dinner with my wife...worth more than a $500 dinner with a bunch of fat cats.

I dunno, these "cats" are pretty nice.... :)

Indeed! But I've had dinner with Carlito, Don Carlos and Wayne several times. Been to Camp David 20+ times for dinner and/or cocktails...hell, I've even been there with my wife. Still not worth $500 IMO.

Name dropper, LOL.

I have my own opinion on all of this but I will refrain from typing it.

Please correct me if i am wrong. Isnt this a charity dinner, and is that not why it commands such a high price? I am not saying that i will be attending but isnt the reason people go to these things is because they can afford to help out others in need. If there is a hidden agenda to this and i am unaware i am sorry but i am still a newb

I dunno. $500 for dinner with (unless I'm reading it wrong) Joe Pesci, Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle, The Fuentes, etc. I might go to that.

You are correct. It's to raise money for the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation. Thus, the $500 rubber chicken.

Wow, just looked at the auctions. High rollers to say the least.

Only a portion is tax deductible. You are paying for the value of the meal, most likely in the $50 range the rest goes to the charity if it is run by them. If they are using an outside agency whatever fee they are getting comes out of the $450 you thought went to the charity. Unless they have an underwriter of the event then the full $50 goes to the charity. Sounds like a great night for approximately $50 bucks.

If I'm not mistaken, the charity is underwritten by Fuente. I suspect that a majority of the money is headed straight to the charity.

Ok, so I went to the dinner last night not really knowing what to expect. I was very impressed.
I had the chance to meet a number of wonderful people and smoke some great cigars.
The host passed out 3 different GOF smokes, 1 Don Carlos Select Edicion Annaversario and 1 FFOX BBMF Maduro.
Smoking those (I saved a couple) made the night. The auction had some great cigar collecitons for sale but the prices quickly
went way to high for me. The humidors made for the event huge and absoutely gorgeous. The link in my initial post in this thread
can take to to the auction items.

I hope some of you can make it next year.
