First job

So I was thinking back the other day upon my first job. I had a job as a cashier at JackInTheCrack at the tender age of 15. I had to lie on my app just to get the job and I'm pretty sure the manager knew it. I worked there for the better part of my freshman year in high school. I hated that job. It was a very awkward time for me since I had just gone through puberty about a year prior so the mixture of that and all the grease in the air did wonders for my acne.

As I was thinking back, I realized I wouldn't do anything different. I've worked my ass off in my life so far and I wouldn't take anything back. Even after all the awkward times trying to play off acne as a 'sunburn' and 'I got into a fight', I'm still glad to this day that I had that job. Now, I'm in the US Marines and have worked my way up suprisingly fast.

I did enjoy the free pizza, but being a dad is much more rewarding. It's a hell of a lot more work, though!

Now : Lab Chemist for R&D @ an gas and oil specialty company

It was hardwork busting my ass. Worst task: digging a water mane. Its funny how much work has to be done to get the school back in shape during the summer. That coupled with 8 hrs of summer school at the local comm college.

I don't count my farm days. It was Grandpa's farm and I got paid in biscuits and gravy.

My first job was on my uncles farm,ring crutching and docking lambs, pressing wool,loading hay bales and mustering sheep. If I was lucky I got a cold bottle of beer at the end of the day. I got fed and a warm bed.
Now I work in a noisy factory making hot water cylinders for Rheem. It sucks but when you don't have a good education it pays the bills and buys me cigars.

That was my First job. It lasted about as long as yours. Really I consider my first job being a waiter for a local BBQ place. I worked there Nine months. They gave us free food before our shifts. Me and the other guy would kill it. I also met alot of girls through that job. :thumbs:

I've had the pleasure and luck of an interesting life.

First job: "Low man on the totem pole" box boy at a grocery store in Oregon. That was when the Oregon "bottle bill" was in its infancy and the "low man" was the bottle sorter. I'd usually spend 2-4 hours a shift sorting returned bottles by the various distributors. Yes, even brown stubby beer bottles. Pallets of 'em. Eech....

'tweener jobs: 10+ years in high end home audio, worked for myself and built recording studios, owned a mid sized PA system and did a tour up and down the west coast, drove tractors in a filbert orchard, drafted control schematics for a aluminum extrusion mill and showed their draftsperson about this new thing called "AutoCad"....lots of good stuff.

Current job: Husband and dad, first. Hardware design engineer for a "really big" company to pay the bills. We do server grade ethernet products for OEM and retail.

Well my neighbor was a farmer so I helped out as a farm hand from 13-15.

My first real job: gas station cashier. (It was actually a pretty sweet gig while I was in high school)

Current job: Quality Assurance (hopefully it'll change sooner rather then later)
