I bought one of those 20gb HDD camcorders a few months ago. I wanted one of these camcorders because I do a lot of recording (new baby, dogs, sexy wife ;) ) and wanted it to be easy to load on the pooter. This camera turned out to be a piece of crap! Looked good in the store, but when trying to film in the house it was terrible. Needed extreme light to pick up anything. Even after adjusting filters, white light, etc. It still sucked.

Anyway, just sold it! Yes!! Good riddance. Does anyone have any recommendations/had good luck on a decent camcorder ($300 to $400 range)? Uh, one that my wife could actually use? I'll probably hit CirCit or BeBy seeing how I have a cr crd for them. :whistling:

There is a Cannon for like 399 that I have been meaning to look at. Dunno what recording medium it uses, but it got high marks in Consumers. Will try to find more info if you would like?

Yeah, let me know what you find out. Thanks!

JVC Everio series. I have their HDD one and it's unreal. I had a family member tape our wedding and I used it on our honeymoon and many other times, indoor and out. It even has a light for low light situations. Great unit that's not very expensive at all.

Actually, that's the camera I refer to in my original post. It worked well in bright daylight outside, but in medium to low light, I couldn't do anything with it. Maybe it was just one of those "lemons" you get every now and then. Of course it was on the lower end (20gb), so that may have made a difference. I may try one of the 30 gigs, see how it works.

Really? That's odd, the one I have works wonderful in high and low light situations. I taped indoor, outdoor, and and a night with low light and everything has come out great. If that one didn't work out, I've read Sony's are great.

I really want to get a sony HD DVD one, but I cannot afford right now. I am just gonna be most likely getting this cannon, as I have heard nothing but good about it...... Who knows what happens in a few months though!

Edit: After looking around some more I might not go this route. lol......Now am in same position as King!
