Hey Y'all, I'm really new here. So, Hi.

So, I have done a buncha searching and readhing on here, and I found that most everyone that seems to be completely against the Acid cigars, by Drew Estate. I dont like other flavored cigars, but I find the acids to be good, and interesting.

Are they really that "bad" or do they just not fit y'all's sophisticated tastes?

I smoke acids alot, I wont lie, but they are what got me into cigars in the first place. A good kinda introduction, and I have since branched out, but I still enjoy them, and whenever I go out and get a few singles, I'll grab an Acid

I dont really have a favorite cigar, I'm still searching and trying new things every time I buy something, but this just sorta surprised me, how much y'all hate them.

If nothing else, I figure they're atleast a good introduction?

So, I guess I could ask for some suggestions on "starter" cigars?

Maybe it's a bad idea to start my first post on a topic that most of you dont like? But, I guess, this is probably a faster way to learn.

Thanks,
Andrew

In all honesty bro, smoke whatever the hell tastes good to ya. Don't let anyone tell ya different. At the end of the day, you're the one smoking it, not us.

I personally just never got much out of the Drew Estates or Acids. For my starters I was blown away by Padron 2000s, Gurka Regents, and 858s. After sampling these, I just never saw the point of buying any Drew Estates or the likes.

If you like them, then they are good. However bear in mind the usually things with "flavors added" (coffee, tobacco, liquor, etc.) are done to mask the taste of the core components, which aren't quite as good as it should be. I think it's reasonable to say that these are considered the "wine cooler" of the cigar world.

I had an RyJ something or other for my first smoke (recommended by the B&M because it was mild) and I didn't like it at all. A couple weeks later I had someone recommend Padron and I went and picked up a Padron 4000 Maddie. I've been hooked since then and Padrons are still some of my favorite cigars.

Haven't had Acid (nor any other flavored cigar for that matter) and, after reading opinions herein, I don't intend to have an Acid unless the curiosity really peaks one day. Ultimately, smoke what you like. It's good that you're not just smoking one thing, and that you're trying other type of cigars. That's been some of the fun in the whole experience for this noobie, getting to try so many different types of cigars and being amazed at how unique each can be.

Yeah, I'll pretty much try anything that someone reccomends, but, i hate to say it, cost is a major issue for me, haha. I'm a poor college kid, and I've never really bought anything expensive.

I'm not so naive to think that expensive = good or cheap = bad, but you know what I'm gettin at.

I just ask what the shop owners recommends, or a friend recommends, etc.

I really like the drew estate Naturals.

But, I'm just mostly curious as to why y'all dont like or y'all kinda look down upon the Acids.

I beg to differ about the flavors used to cover up poor quality components, because by that logic, coke is flavored to cover up the poor quality water it's made with....

or because people like the flavor of coke, and there's a market for people who enjoy that taste, over plain water, or carbonated water....

or I could be 100% wrong.

Wise words from Moki-san.

Try a Padron 2000, a LFD L300, or any of the other recommendation so far in this thread.

Best Regards - B.B.S.

You have to experience a few different cigars to appreciate the different tastes and flavors of a "good" cigar. The more you smoke the more your palette will refine (similar to wine) and you can fully appreciate the subtle "tastes". Everyone here started by trying a few recommended cigars and I guarantee some of their initial "favorites" have fallen by the wayside for what are now better tasting smokes.

My advice is smoke everything, keep reading, and take time to enjoy every cigar. Especially those ACID's, because once you taste some of the really good stuff you won't even want to put them in the same humidor. :sign:

Dr, Click on over to HERE This is where, arguably, you will get the best value for your college dollar.

The FOG's will send you a variety of smokes, some of which you may never otherwise get to smoke. In fact, you would do well to buy at least a couple of times from these fine gentlemen. When you smoke variety, you will be able to form a taste opinion and go on from there.

 I was reading your unedited post Brain, and was wondering who you meant by " this fine gentleman "

Yah, i had read that FAQ and info on the newbie trades, perhaps once i get back to Vegas I will try this out, but untill then, I dont have much extra money.

But so far, good advice, and I like your point about enjoying the acids while it lasts, haha, ignorance is bliss, I suppose.

Yeah, you could be.

Some people like bubblegum flavor infused coffee, Wildberry flavored liquor, and clove & spice infused cigar. I'm sure they all go well with a winecooler.

I an promise you, though, that premium coffee, liquor, and tobacco is not used in these creations. There's no point, since the primary flavor isn't coming from the substance itself.

Real quality coffee, liquor, and tobacco has been carefully treated such that it is a thing unto itself in terms of the taste; nothing is needed to "enhance" or mask the taste, because the core component is so refined.

Yeah, you could be.

Mhm, I'm completly open to that, i dont know very much about cigars, perhaps they are made with tobacco's of lesser quality, but to me, the fact that they are flavored simply because they are made with lower quality tobacco.

However, it might make sense that something is made with lower quality tobacco, because its flavored and they can get away with it, not the other way around.

anyways, I'm off to church, my new friends.

Merry Christmas!

So let me ask you a question, then. If the quality of the tobacco makes little difference due to the flavor infusion, why would any manufacturer use top quality tobacco to make flavored cigars?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with smoking an Acid if you legitimately enjoy them. I just hate it when people ONLY smoke them. They're kind of a fad for people our age, Dr. Marneaus. I'd venture to say that a huge portion of the acid market is between 18 -> 24 years old.

I'll be honest and say I don't necessarily MIND an Acid every once in a great while, but I would NEVER purchase one with the intention of smoking it. The only Acid I have actually liked was the Acid 5, and it was even gifted to me. In the Acid 5, at least you could still taste tobacco.

I smoke cigars because I enjoy the flavors of good tobacco and the nuances between the different varities. I don't smoke cigars to taste weird ass herbs, flowers, and whatnot. That's just not a cigar.

Edit: I'm probably one of the few that will admit to not minding a Moontrance or Java on occasion. Again, I don't go out of my way to buy them, but they're good to mix it up once in a while. Moontrances go well with smooking certain flavors in shisha when smooking a hookah. They're also semi-decent with some mixed drinks. Other than that, forget it. The Java "Waffe" size is the only even remotely tolerable smoke out of the Java line from Drew Estate. It goes decently well with a strong coffee/espresso.

Those things need to go in a humidor? :whistling:

haha, i actually dont keep them in the same humidor, as much as i enjoy them, I dont really appreciate them "sharing" their flavor with my others.

Well, while out and about in Salem NH today I found "Two Guys" cigar shop and stopped in, pretty nice place. Took y'alls advice and picked up some padrons to test out.

They smell good, thats for sure, we'll see how they smoke soon enough.
