I will be heading to San Antonio later this week for a get away with the family. I would love to visit some of the local cigar shops and enjoy a smoke or two in a friendly cigar bar. Anyone familiar with the area have any suggestions for a newbie to CP?

Welcome to CP!

Feel free to go post an intro so we know more about you.

As far as San Antonio goes, I would check out either of the two club humidor locations. Really the only shop worth any time there IMO.

Thanks Jake...and I will go post in the newbie lounge. This looks like a great cigar site.

I have never been to their shop, but have ordered a few things from Finck's Cigar in San Antonio. They advertise themselves as having Texas' largest walk-in humidor, so it may be worth a stop.

Have fun.

I receive Finck's Cigar catalog and thought I might try them, let me what you think of them. Their catalog kind of reminds me of the type of cigars of 1940's &50s.

Thanks

I went to club humidor yesterday, nice selection and one of the guys was nice, however the other two followed me like I was going to steal handfuls of cigars. I bought my tin of tobacco, most likely won't shop with them again.

We follow our customers into the humidor, and I can say I've never been into a shop for the first time and not been followed. It's not always the perception of stealing, but hands on customer service. When someone is looking around th ey may have questions or want suggestions, it's better to be there to answer them instead of having them come get you.

I was never asked if i needed help when i was in the humidor... nor was i in the main part of the store when i was walking around. Well, then again, my B&M which i spend buttloads of money still get treated as a thief

I think every humidor I go into for the first time they follow me in there. It's not necessarily to see if you need help, but if you do need help you don't need to go find them.

Personally I have never been to CLub Humidor...but I have been to Fincks. Great selection. But I have heard Club Humidor keeps trying to upsell to the most expensive cigars there. A buddy wanted a couple of La Auroras and they kept trying to upsell him on other brands. He politely said he wasn't interested but they kept on. He said it got annoying.

Hey Razor,

Just saw this post, thanks for putting one up for visitors to the Alamo city. :)

Club Humidor on Huebner isn't a bad place to check out, timing is the key. Best time to shop is during the morning. My personal favorite is the Humidor on San Pedro; their walk in humi is twice the size of Club Humidor's.

Hope you have a great time down here.
