One of my favorite actors.

RIP

From MSN.com

"LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Charlton Heston, who won the 1959 best actor Oscar as the chariot-racing "Ben-Hur" and portrayed Moses, Michelangelo, El Cid and other heroic figures in movie epics of the '50s and '60s, has died. He was 84. The actor died Saturday night at his home in Beverly Hills with his wife Lydia at his side, family spokesman Bill Powers said."

RIP Sir.

Yesterday I received a renewal card for membership in the NRA. I've been a member of the NRA several times throughout my life, but had not been a current member for some time. Yesterday, a three-year membership card/package just showed up. Made reading this story this morning all the more poignant.

It was a blessing. Alzheimer's robs a man of his soul. He stopped being Charlton Heston quite some time ago. He was a real American. Freedom is what mattered to him. He was a card carrying member of the NRA and the ACLU. I always admired him for that.

Doc.

Oh man, he was one of my all time favorites. I just watched both The Omega Man and Soylent Green a couple nights ago. Love watching those old movies. And, Planet of the Apes? Loved 'em as a kid. We've lost a great man IMHO. Rest in peace Mr. Heston.

RIP, a man who supported the right to be an American.

I can't comment on his political affiliation but as an actor...he was in two of my favorite movies of all time, Ben Hur and The Ten Commandments.

I saw these as a young kid and they have stuck with me forever...great actor in those days...RIP

I actually met Mr. Heston in 1994. He was friends with one of my professors and he came to give a talk to our class. He sat at the head of a circle of 15 chairs and gave the most heartfelt talk about life I had heard at that point in my young life. It was almost like listening to my grandfather.

He stuck around after the talk and answered questions on politics, acting and everything in between. He was a true gentleman.

May he rest in peace.

A great actor and avocate of what being an American is all about, may he rest in peace.

One of my favorite lines in any movie is " Soylent Green is people it's people it's people" I am sad to see Mr Heston Pass but am relieved for those who were caring for him.
Alzhiemers takes its toll on the caregivers and family as well as the person who suffers from it.
ha was as close as it gets to American Royalty.
Rest in Peace Mr Heston.

Rest in peace! I can only imagine when he meets GOD.

I admired the way he took a stand against gun control and lost what little respect I had for Moore for attacking Heston in "that" documentary.

Heston still made Moore look like a fool!

RIP, sir!
