I hate to say it, but I did not like Pepin's Legend series cigar. Easily the worst Pepin I've ever smoked...that alone will keep me away from this deal. More for you guys!

Yeah, I got the e-mail too. But I have to say I agree as well, the Legend stick was very disappointing.

I jumped on the 16 cigar 601 deal that CI had early last week because I haven't tried one of those from Garcia, I haven't opened the bundle yet. I got a box of the DPG Black 1970 beli....and that was just like everyone here said...thin wrapper (blew up half way) and a bit young. I think I'll pass on this deal due to those 2 issues.

Gary, have you tried the Black Robo? I hear people complaining of this 'wrapper' issue all of the time, but I have yet to experience it. I must admit however, I only have the Robo, as they are in my top 3 favs right now. If you have tried the Robusto, has this happend to you with them or just the beli? Thanks in advance for the info.

Aaron...yeah...bought a few robustos (1979s) from my local B&M and they blew up at about the 3/4 point...same as the belis. Now keep in mind that is only 6 cigars, but the part that I can't figure out is...2 different sizes, 2 different batches by date, and 3 different people smoking them. All were smoked relatively quick since they were purchased and spent little time in my humi which I run at 72% this time of year....maybe a little additional moisture will help with this issue.

I would say that smoking the Blacks at anything over 69% is asking for trouble. I've easily smoked 6 boxes of these and honestly can not remember one wrapper split. I do moisten the wrappers of all cigars I smoke in the winter. One thing I find with the black is that each size has a similar but fairly unique profile.
The Robusto is my favorite by a pretty large margin. In my experience, they get drastically better after some time and smoking under 69%.

Regarding humidity, you definitely have to keep Pepins, especially blacks, a bit drier. I have only had a problem with one stick, and that was when I smoked it while shoveling snow out of my driveway! I keep mine at 60-65%, and have never had a problem when smoking in a reasonable environment.

Ok...I got to start another topic thread about this humidity thing in our humidors. I did a search and didn't find anything concerning it. If you know of one, please relay it along. Thanks.
