Cats in the garden

Try the Cat Stop. Kind of funny if you actually get to see them react the first time they come around.

Thread JACK OVER

As for the Kitty problem:
I vote for the Claymore but since it may damage your beautiful garden I'd go with the John's Kitty Away. In CA I used Coyote Urine (bought in a local garden center) & a pest gun. In most areas cats are considered ferral animals and technically can be "disposed of" unless there is a specific law for domesticated cats. The other option, gross though it may be, is to gather as much of the offending material one day and re-deposit on the neighbor's doorstep with or with out a note. :0

AND as for Anvil's recipe -
Don't ya know man it don't need no seasoning, that's why I learned to breath through my ears! :sign: ;)

Last year when my wife was cleaning the garden she collected it all and dumped it on their porch. These people just dont care. Its sad really. What really pisses me off is that the cats dont use their gardens just the neighbors. I wonder if the asprin thing really works.

A safe non-lethal method is a giant super soaker. Fun for the whole family.

Otherwise might I recommend 5lbs of confectioners sugar in the neighbors gas tank. They will get the message.

Thank you! I think I found a new quote for my sig. :D

I wonder if the aspirin thing really works.

You might as well use cyanide, it will have the same affect. Aspirin = poison to a cat. If your garden is worth you going to jail for cruelty to animals go for it.

And to all of you telling him to shoot the cats...

If someone shoots at my cat and I find out about it, they might as well start wearing a bullet proof vest for the rest of their days and it better be rated at .270 or better.

No joke. :)

Super-soaker with a 2% vinegar to water ratio works great, once or twice and the cats won't bother coming back.

Or plant "Scaredy Cat Plants" (Coleus Canin) or english lavender along the border of your garden. Cats hate the smell and stay far away.

But do you let your cat run all over the neighborhood with no regard for other peoples property?

All my cats up to the one we have now were outdoor cats. We lived in an apartment with a 5+ acre garden/wooded lot. We now live on the top floor of an apartment building surrounded by light to heavy traffic so she stays inside.

There are a lot of ways to keep a cat out of a garden without killing them using a firearm or poison. I consider my cats family and I believe in vendetta and that is my view on the matter.

Call animal control, many consider cats a pest, and will remove them if you embellish the story a bit... like maybe one scratched your child. If they are a neighbors pet, then maybe some friendly words will convince them to do something before they die from "buckshot allergy"!

That's not an embellishment, but rather an outright lie (at least, as far as I know). I would not advise on doing that to anyone, let alone a governmental entity, quasi or otherwise.

especially considering the Governmental entity has never lied to anyone ;)

How about a nice car-ride for the offending feline(s)? cats have been known to run away!

Brilliant analogy. Two wrongs is ok then. I'll keep that in mind. Speaks volumes about ya. ;)

Edited to add -

Good call on the "scaredy cat" plants.

I consider my pets family as well. However, I think that if you have a pet that you need to keep it on your own property. It's just rude to let your animal wander as it will and make messes for you neighbor to clean up.

Its a cat... lol I suggest you trying to walk one on a leash at least once for no other reason as the comedy value. Make sure you wear snake bite pants when you do though... :sign:

Cats roam, there is no difference between a house cat and a tiger other than the size. And most cats hide deep in the bushes when they have to go and cover their excrement when they are done, and you would never know they were there.

I agree that billbaker3's neighbors should do something (they should pay to have the Scaredy Cat Plants placed on their own adjacent property line for example). but saying all Cats should be forced to stay inside is ludicrous.

I didn't say all cats should stay inside. I said all pets should stay on your own property. If you don't have enough property for your pet to roam free on then you should put up a fence, keep them inside or just not have one.

That I agree with in principle... but considering my Tom could jump-scale a 12 foot wall, I don't see a fence being that much of a help.

Like it or not most people do let their cats go outside, regardless of how much property they own. Its my opinion that the owners should do something if a neighbor complains. Bill's neighbors refuse to do so and they are more of the problem as their animals.

I will give you that. Its not the cats faults that the people are messed up. I think I am going to get some of the plants and the sonic thing and see how that works.

Thats really the point that I was making wurm. The cats don't know that they are doing anything wrong but the owners are fully aware.

ok, so it looks like we have agreed to leave the cats alone, but the nieghboros are still fair game right? I'll start off, how about 50 gallons of gas and a lit cigarette? No house, no neighboros, no problem! :)

As the saying goes:

Cats and Women will do as they please

and Men and Dogs shoudl just get used to it...... :p

Cat poop just might be the reason the flowers look so good. Ever think about that ???

You might ask Wurm to send you a pair of his Nike's. Apparently they have the power to attract cats. Tie them (the shoes) to a tree in your neighbors yard. That should keep them (the cats) out of yours.
