CAO Soprano Question

I have smoked cigars occasionally over the years and never really found a make or style that I was completely sold on. That all changed recently when a friend bought be a CAO Soprano series cigar. When I first saw it, I immediately thought it was some sort of marketing gimmick and was skeptical at best, but when I smoked it I absolutely loved it! What I am trying to sort through now it what type of style this cigar falls into. I would like to find more cigars, any make or style, that are similar to this. In a nutshell, I think I have finally found the type of cigar I really enjoy, but I don't know how to find more of it outside of just buying a lot more of the CAO Soprano series.

I still suspect there is quiet a bit of marketing built into the price of the CAO line, so I was hopeful I could find a similar product without having to pay for the "Soprano" label.

The characteristics of the CAO Soprano that I really enjoyed were (and you will have to forgive my terms because, like I said, occasional smoker at best, so I am not really up on the terminology)...

It was smooth, but not in a light and airy way. It definitely had a rich taste to the cigar, nice heavy smoke. I really enjoyed the thickness of the flavor. The flavors were dark, similar to coffee but combined with a desirable sweet aftertaste. It almost came across as wet, in the sense of the rich flavors combined with the smooth smoke.

Also, I do not smoke regularly (no cigarettes, etc) so my definition of smooth might be different than experienced smokers.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or offer some suggestions for this style of cigar? Any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated.

Hi and welcome to CP. Might I suggest to go to the intro thread and post an intro so we might get to know you and your tastes etc etc. :) And enjoy, there are a ton of brothers on here with a wealth of knowledge not found in most places. Be nice, play by the rules and enjoy yourself here, in the best forums on the net!

P.S. I love the Tony edition :) One of my favorites!

The Sopranos is quite a unique smoke. If I had to give a description of it, I would say it's a full flavor, medium strength cigar. I would also say that it was a very spicey cigar. Given those thoughts (although brief) I would have to recommend you over to Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic Black cigars. They aren't as intensely spicey as Sopranos but have a good mixture of spice and smoothness. I would also venture to say that another cigar you should try is the Arturo Fuente King B. These are very spicey like the Sopranos..and pack a sneaky nicotine punch. You should DEFINITELY eat a HUGE meal before smoking these until you get used to them. If someone was pointing a gun at me and asking me to give you 2 suggestions..these would be them. There are many BOTL much more experienced than I though, so take my suggestions w/ a grain of salt.

Good luck finding more cigars that suit your tastes! It's definitely a guessing game..and you wont really know if you'll like a smoke until you smoke a few of them.

I would also recommend you smoking a few more Sopranos...if you have a favorite, why the hell not smoke it?! :)

Are we slacking here?

I have seen quite a few posters with no introduction. Is this the new CP?

Didn't we just have this discussion a few days ago?

I love the Sopranos, keep smoking them if you like them!

I love em as well. Got a box of the Soldiers on order from my B&M. I had my first one with a few months age on it last Saturday, and it really added to this cigar. It was a phenomenal smoke, with tons of tasty flavor!

I would agree with H311oLHD about trying the Pepin Cuban classics.
