I have smoked cigars occasionally over the years and never really found a make or style that I was completely sold on. That all changed recently when a friend bought be a CAO Soprano series cigar. When I first saw it, I immediately thought it was some sort of marketing gimmick and was skeptical at best, but when I smoked it I absolutely loved it! What I am trying to sort through now it what type of style this cigar falls into. I would like to find more cigars, any make or style, that are similar to this. In a nutshell, I think I have finally found the type of cigar I really enjoy, but I don't know how to find more of it outside of just buying a lot more of the CAO Soprano series.
I still suspect there is quiet a bit of marketing built into the price of the CAO line, so I was hopeful I could find a similar product without having to pay for the "Soprano" label.
The characteristics of the CAO Soprano that I really enjoyed were (and you will have to forgive my terms because, like I said, occasional smoker at best, so I am not really up on the terminology)...
It was smooth, but not in a light and airy way. It definitely had a rich taste to the cigar, nice heavy smoke. I really enjoyed the thickness of the flavor. The flavors were dark, similar to coffee but combined with a desirable sweet aftertaste. It almost came across as wet, in the sense of the rich flavors combined with the smooth smoke.
Also, I do not smoke regularly (no cigarettes, etc) so my definition of smooth might be different than experienced smokers.
Can anyone point me in the right direction or offer some suggestions for this style of cigar? Any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated.
