As one of the only civilized cities left in America, I imagine there are some classic places to stop by and visit. I look to my fellow members from Chi town to provide some suggestions.

All comments are welcome.

BTW: I will be bringing some Oliva Torps, Diplo #2 and Monti #2 (if they arrive in time)

No smoking in Chicago.

Be sure to check out the following Cigar Stores.

Jack Schwarz
Iwan Reis
Hubbard street cigars.

If you have access to a car I highly suggest you Visit Belicoso Cigar Lounge in Orland Park.

I coldn't agree more...especially on Belicoso

Thanks for the quick response.

I must have been misinformed. I thought that you could still smoke in Chicago. Something about being grandfathered for a period of time. Maybe it expired.

sorry to hear that the PC police have arrived there as well.

I will see if I can get out to Belicosos

Last time I was in Chicago (March 06), Mike Ditka's restaurant had a great cigar bar/restaurant on the second level. I think it's still there, and if so is a good choice. You can enjoy a fine meal and enjoy a fine smoke, and maybe even see Iron Mike at the same time.

No smoking in any restaurnats in Illinois.
Even Big Bad Mike Ditka had to obey the laws

You should look up Cigars & More in Libertyville, IL - very nice lounges and pretty liberal about BYOB (as long as you don't go crazy)...

Cigar King in Skokie is also very nice!

When are you coming to Chicago??

Uptown cigar shop has a good selection of some hard-to-come-by's...but their prices are extreme and not a smoking environment

I am currently in Chicago visiting. I made it to Iwan Reis and Hubbard. I was very, very, very, impressed with Iwan Reis. Tomorrow morning I am going to Jack Shwartz (hope I spelled that right). I walked around town smoking a Davidoff Short Perfecto with no trouble. I was not impressed with the Davidoff (and that is another forum altogether). I can't wait until tomorrow. We are going to try and make it to Up Down and Blue Havana.

I will be in the Chi Town July 16th/17th.

Quickie trip.
I was looking for some place to smoke after dinner, but it sounds like it will have to be outside after dinner. Not sure how late any of the places listed stay open. Let's hope for good weather and a roof deck.

All of this info is very helpful. Keep it coming and if anyone is in the NJ area, let me know. There are still places in NJ that you can enjoy a good steak and smoke indoors.

I would check out Cigary in Wilmette/Skokie if you end up in that area. Very, very nice lounge with a great collection.

I agree their brand new Oliva Lounge is really nice but I think it's $10 to smoke in it for the day. They have a pretty decent selection and are nice people.

The Cigar King in Skokie is also pretty nice and no charge to smoke and its really spacious too

theebug,

Please do stop by if you get a chance. We're not open in the evening (hours: 7:30am - 5:00pm M-F). If you do have some free time during the day we'd love to see you. If you need any directions or some suggestions on places to go feel free to give us a buzz: 888-733-5225
Have a safe trip.

Thank you,
Eric

Do they still have a humidor Alex? I was planning on going there for my birthday dinner....worth it? It looks like I might be changing plans :(

They still sell his cigars. But you can't smoke at any restaurant in Illinois. You can sometimes get away with smoking on the patio if you are far enough away form the doors and smoke nazi's.
