Cigar GnuB and Mold

So this local Tobacco shop that has a decent humidor with a fairly good selection is a regular stop for me once or twice a week. Today I go there to pick up a couple cigars and look at toys.

While browsing in the humidor I notice a box of cigars that look "hairy". As I'm looking around more I notice that all of the cigars in the room without cello on them have a bit of this hairy substance and finally on one the substance is in circular groups and it hits me that this is a mold.

The few cigars I had in hand were all wrapped so I went ahead and bought them.

What should I do now? I am planning on going back tomorrow to see if the regular cashier is there and let them know what I may have found. Should I stay away from buying anything there for a while?

I really liked this place too.
 
I would think that a reputable B&M would knock that sort of problem out ASAP, and that you could continue to show them your patronage. I don't know enough about molds to comment on whether or not all the sticks they sell are candidates for mold...but I might be tempted to keep the ones you just bought isolated in a plastic baggie in the home humi. Perhaps another forum member with some experience managing a commercial humidor can offer some advice based on experience (rather than a hunch...which is all I'm offering).

Yes, I would keep them in quarantine for awhile. Did they have a hygro anywhere in the humidor? I would definitely bring it up with store owner, I don't care how much you like the place. If they don't take care of their stock I don't know how they are taking care of their customers.

In my experience with "moldy" B&Ms, you'll be told one of three things:

1.) "That's not mold...that's PLUME."

2.) "That's not mold...that's PLUME."

3.) "That's not mold...that's PLUME."

I have had come boxes come in with mold on them, and they were promptly sent back. The only explanation for mold to accumulate once the boxes are in-store, is the high humidity level in the humi. In my store, humidity and temperature are controlled and I check the levels on both my stock and my display humis several times a day. There's no excuse for moldy cigars in a store's humidor. Sounds like someone doesn't care too much for the cigars. I tell my customers that if they come second to anything, it's for the care I take with the cigars in my store. Just my $0.02.
