Now Hear This: Don't Remove Earwax

I'm sure Q-Tip shareholders don't wanna,,,,,hear that.

:whistling:

Ever try ear-candling? I've heard it works to remove wax really well, and as someone who can't hear worth a damn, and constantly feel like my ears are plugged, I really wish to go against this article!

I've read that ear candling doesn't actually do anything.

My mother in law is suspicious of doctors but will try any other sort of voodoo mumbo jumbo "alternative medicine" you can throw at her. She has always been a big proponent of ear candling as long as I've known her, and although I tried to poo-poo it at first, she eventually convinced me to at least give it a shot.

I am a convert. While I'm still uncertain whether the yield is earwax, some byproduct of the cone, or a combination of the two, I can say for certain that it feels very good, and it seems like I can hear better than usual for a little while afterwards.

Check it out. That doctor doesn't know what in the hell he's talking about anyway. Some people are addicted to their Walkmans???

I'm not so sure about this though. http://buttcandle.com/

Every day there are dozens of new posts on here. Some draw immediate interest. Others I'm not interested in. And of course there are the ones that you know will feature the days entertainment. But this one was in a category all its own. Looking at the title, my inner voice screamed 'don't go near it'. But like the sign that says 'Don't touch! Wet paint!', I just had to.

Ear wax? :D

Thanks for the info, what with the ear hair and all.

I use the candles every 6 months or so. They suck out all the dead skin and heaps of wax bro. Use em, then cut the sucker open, when you have finished, you will freak at what they have sucked outta there. :D

Hmmmm. Call me cynical, but until someone with a physics degree can show me how a hollow candle can suck junk out of your ear, I'm not believing it...

A while back we did an experiment with these, one ear wax candle that was used on an ear and one that was used by itself, both had the same grimy, disgusting inside when cut open. Not conclusive, but it definitely made me skeptical.
