Need a little transaction advice please

I agree ... and I have an idea, tell me what you all think. With Master Rod's permission we should have a list of names of people NOT to do business with. Black Ball List if you must. This way if you strike a deal with someone you can look at the

Not a bad idea, although the ban process seems to work ok. Taking your idea a little further, it might be worth it for Rod (or Wilkey, or another FOG) to create a sticky thread for buy/sell/trade related bans, with the offender's tag, real name, address if relevant, link to the story of why they got banned. The more I think about it, the more I like it, actually; it's part of keeping standards here, and being seen to keep standards.

There is a 'list'. <----linky to list

Moki...I'll post the reference to here on CF.

We'll get the ball rolling on this guy.

WOW! Never knew this list existed. Funny, because I found a customer of mine on this list. I probably wouldn't have been screwed by him if I knew this list existed. Luckily, after about 4 months, it all worked out with no thanks to him. I will keep this link bookmarked. Thanks to Moki.

I'd stay away from doing that kind of thing.

But from the looks of what was in those samplers you had listed MAS_Puros, I don't see any reason not to call the cops and the Postal Inspectors office...
Agreed, Tim. We should refrain from even suggesting doing such a thing unless accompanied by copious

Even though the offender decides to piss on civilized interactions, we must stay on the right side.

The other CP members in this thread have behaved appropriately and proportionately to the offense. We may be incensed but we cannot afford to compromise the legitimacy and lawfulness of our response because some jerkoff ripped one of us off.

Wilkey, you got to stop this bullshit side remarks, you are pissing me off. Maybe we should bring our bullshit out in the open, is that what you want? Dick!

I didn't suggest we go there and break the guys arms. He can be notified that he owes the bucks and that someone will be collecting on his behalf.

On another forum I'm on that also has a lot of buying, selling, shipping, trusting, etc., whenever this sort of issue arises, an email offering to have a friend come by to pick up the item or money in person always seems to be very persuasive when there also happens to be a photo of the scofflaw's home attached to the email.

Just a thought...

I would be more than willing to be the south central CP REPOMAN!!!!

Guys stop fighting with one another ...

... I am working from home today ... mail arrives around 9ish. So until then ...

I am not gonna go after him for cigars. It clearly looks like he has financial problems and I will leave it at that. Main purpose is that this doesn't happen to anyone else!

Mike, it's nice that you still have faith but somehow I doubt there will be a check arriving at 9 AM. He has been on here, well aware of the situation.

Mike,

Of course I will support whatever personal decision you make. That is fully your prerogative and only you know what is the best decision for your situation.

As far as Rehrlich's status in the online cigar community, I trust and believe that we will do what needs to be done to insure that the likelihood of his doing this to another member will be as close to zero as possible. As I see it, two immediate actions present themselves.
1. Rod bans this guy to excise him from this community
2. Andrew makes arrangements to have him added to the Scumbag and Bad Traders List.

And that is pretty much it. Will this be entirely satisfactory? Perhaps not. But I do believe it is the best and most appropriate course of action.

Of course it's not impossible that he will complete this transaction. I see him reading now. That might make it right with you (and that's okay) but I suspect he has no interest in making right with the CigarPass community. And that will have to be okay as well. We'll part ways then as I describe above.

Wilkey

The sad part about the whole thing is he has had an opportunity to read everything and has chosen not to respond. Because, he didn't take the initiative to post at least his side of the story, all his dirty laundry has come out.

I hope this does get resolved as I hate for the good people on this board to be taken advantage of. If it does happen, it will be a learning experience for all.

This guy has been on CP since June 07. You don't ask a guy that's been here for over a year to send his end first. Unfortunately, the only way you are going to
find out if he is a low life, is when something like this happens. At this point, you can get the guy put onto the list.

Brian,

In most of my recent transactions, BOTL's have received my PMO before shipping, even though I've been here a while and my reputation is good. I've never given it a second thought, since everyone I've purchased from has been here at least as long as I have, and they've all had stellar rep's.

Brian, I see where you're coming from here, but I gotta disagree. If I'm selling cigars, and I don't know the person who is buying from me, they gotta send their end first. I don't care how long they've been here. If I'm buying from someone who doesn't know me, I expect to send my end first, especially if I'm newer to the community than they are. I am willing to make exceptions for members who have been here a very long time, who have stellar reputations. However, rehrlich didn't fall into that category, even before this whole episode.

In the end, it all boils down to trust, and people like rehrlich are the reason it's hard to earn trust around here.

Mike,

Sorry to hear about this. :(

In July I sent rehrlich a free bottle of PG Solution. I guess he was just here for the free stuff and to screw somebody when the time was right.

OK we have an update ... Low and behold, GUESS WHAT I FOUND in the mail just now ???

I have a envelop in my hands from Rod E., Post Marked Sept 10, 2008.

And yes it's a check. :D Check is dated August 28, 2008

I'm sorry this had to get ugly Rod E. but I had no choice ... I'm not a bad guy and if you could not pay me at the time I wouldn't have gotten upset. Just look at the support I got from my fellow brothers! Did you think you wouldn't get the same in return? I think I am a fair guy so you only had to communicate to me and I would have been fine with that.

Thanks for following through ...

See Wilkey its always good to have a little HOPE! :D

Thanks all ...

Mike

I'm glad you got the check....now will it clear?

Either way, there are other transgressions that have befallen this gentleman.

I'd cash that check before I got too excited. Go to his bank if you can and cash it there.

I've got my fingers crossed for ya Mike.

...Gary

And why would he let it get to this point when the check is in the mail.....
