Colibri Bankrupt?

Thanks for sharing. That's too bad, I would have never expected Colibri to go under.

Their lighters tend to have problems, but the company was good about fixing them when they die on you. Now I'm worried that anyone who has one won't be able to get them fixed unless they PAY to get them fixed.

I would think anyone with a warranty is porked. Who is the bill for the repair work going to go to now? You and me. Oh well...

Are you still on hold?

I hope the service department stays open. They also do the repair for Dupont and Dunhill.

I might be wrong, or half right, not sure. I believe that warranties are a legal type of document. I'm not 100% convinced that owners would be sool if a lighter is still under warranty. I know that in my life, I've had products from companies that no longer existed fixed by another entity.
This could very well be more likely in a merger, company purchase, etc. type situation. I'm heading over to their web site to see what I can see.

I got one from many moons ago, and its one of the few lighters that has NEVER let me down. I don't do the drain and refill thing. I just fill er' up when needed and she ALWAYS lights

The Colibri triple torch I have has been the most reliable lighter I have had, besides the .99 Bic that is.

That just shows how tanked the economy is i guess.

Man that's too bad. I have a triple torch Colibri that I was going to send in for repair. For the second time by the way. It probably would not come back if I sent it in. Of course, who cares if it doesn't work!

My all time number #1 never fail lighter is a Colibri CEO Elite (soft flame). It's a beast of a work horse. Then again, I consider most flint ignition lighters to be generally more reliable than torches tend to be. I think I'll stock up on flints for it while I am still able to.

I have one Colibri double torch lighters. I got it back in 2002 and it worked nicely for about 3 years and then I started having massive problems with it. I had it Serviced and guess what, the $35 I paid to get it fix was a complete bust. They never did fix it. I bought my Corona Old Boy and haven't looked back. Its the best lighter I've owned. Not a single problem with it and I've had it for 2+ years now.

So Colibri tanking doesn't surprise me at all.

I've been using a Colibri Quantum torch since I started smoking and, while it is certainly not the nicest lighter I've ever handled, it has been reliable. I suppose this gives me more incentive to replace it with something nicer *cough*Porsche Designs*cough*.

I am sad to see any company affiliated with cigars go under, but I do love my vector thundra lighter and have never use colibri

Honestly I am not surprised. The local shop I go to placed an order for 100 of their lighters. He received 120. He called and asked why they shipped 120 and was he going to be billed for their error. They said no it is for replacements. He asked if they really had a 20% fail rate and they said at times yes and this is so he can just mail back the bad ones and have new ones to replace what is brought back into the store. He sent back all of them and chose not to be a dealer for them. If you have that much of an issue with your product fix the problem before bringing out more new models and maybe you will not be broke.
