With Brett Favre announcing today that he plans to retire I've been thinking a lot about what his legacy might end up being. You cannot argue with the astounding statistics that he has put up through his career, and in that right he was one of the best Quarterbacks to ever play the position. The only thing I question is how he handled himself toward the end of his career. No one will really ever know who is to blame for the falling out at GB, but I wonder how much that falling out will tarnish his name. In my opinion the amazing statistics he put up, the way he played the game, and the intensity he brought to the field heavily outweigh these past few years of his career. Who else do you know that came out and threw for almost 400 yards the day after his father passed? He was a great quarterback, a good man, and in my mind a football icon who's name will not soon be forgotten. I am not a Packers or a Jets fan but I do wish the man the best in the rest of his life. Let's just hope that in a few months we don't hear him saying "so, I might want to come back and play after all.."

Again!?!
I wonder if he will stay retired this time. :whistling:

I'm a Packer fan, and I don't care anymore. It was a big deal when he retired from Green Bay. Now, really, who gives a f..k. Sorta like MJ, did he ever even retire from the Bullets. Who would know?

He will be back, but this time playing for the Dallas cowboy cheer leading squad. :whistling:

Chrips, if you're going to make a crack in the Legend of Favre thread, at least make sure it's funny. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

:)

Ditto on both points!

Favre will come back and play for the Eagles

To bad you guys are packer fans, now thats some funny chit

:D

As a Packer fan he has brought me many years of joy. I truly loved just watching that guy play. He is one of the few that truly looked like he enjoys the game.

I was saddened to see him pull that crap last year and would never in a million years think I would see him in a uniform other than a Packers.

When he signed with the Jets I thought he would stink up the joint and be a disgrace.

I think he should bow out gracefully.
He has been a great addition to the game and I would hope to see him coach a QB or something like that.
Not waste his talents as a color commentator or something

I wish him luck

There's a similar situation going on in Arizona. Let's just hope that once Kurt makes his decision, he sticks with it rather than duplicate the unfortunate controversy stirred up by Farve last year.

1) he isn't retired until the 2009-2010 season is over and he hasn't played a down.
2) He sucks; always has, always will.
3) What makes 2) true...he played for the Green Bay Suckers!!!!!

GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh that was so 20 years ago!

Whatcha got now Bear Fan???? :whistling:

He's washed up. He should have stayed retired and never played for my beloved Jets team.

Mark my words, he's going to sign with the Vikings....

The only thing that will tarnish his legacy is if he's found out to be a cheater or a child molester. His legacy is intact just like Jordan's, Montana's, and Jerry Rice's. Sure, they all hung on a little too long, but in the end they are remembered as the great athletes they were.

Packer fans will get over it, and so will everyone else.

I do think some of the adulation is a bit over the top, but that's what you get these days.

If he decides to come back yet again, fugg him.

He can't.

The Jets retain his rights even if he retires. If they would have agreed to release him then he could have signed with Minnesota. As is, he can not.

I wonder if the Jets would release him to let GB pick him back up so he can retire with the team that he was such a big part of for so long. I am not sure whether or not Favre would even want to do that but I can't imagine him not wanting to.

Good...he should stay retired this time. Besides, I don't think the Jets want to give up any picks to the Packers anyway.
