OR Anejo #49

This is by far the worst cluster fuck that I've witnessed on CP. I had no idea you know-it-alls would surpass all my expectations, though.

Doc.

For the first time since joining CP I see "it" struggling to keep up with the latest breed; the "I want it all and I want it now" breed. Maybe this cluster fuck will act as a lesson and brings things around a bit.

No, the only lesson that will make sense is for some new members to be banned!

I've been preaching this for a long time now, this is not fleabay! The new members here that have taken the opportunity to call established members out have to go! This constant behind the scenes wheeling and dealing has to end. The I have the source to HTF cigars has to end and the look at me posts have to end.

Rod, please take a look at the facts and do the right thing and show some people the door! They don't deserve to be here and they bring nothing to the plate except disharmony.

Comparison shots. Real OR on the right. Fake on the left.

Well, however Rod decides to handle this I hope that others (maybe on the fringe) will slow down and learn.

I know I have asked before and maybe there has been an answer which I didn't see or saw and forgot (sucks to get old ;) ) but why can't we have a waiting period when you register for CP membership? During this waiting period the registrant can be sent a few do's and don'ts which they would have to acknowledge prior to getting their registration. After all we are a community/fraternity and a community/fraternity usually has an approval process. That way if you acknowledge the do's and don'ts and come on here within your first couple posts and step out of line you're gone! As of now we have to let these dramas play out to see if the new person gets it.

So was this scumbag adding something to the inside of the celo to make it appear aged? Is that why the wrapper was tearing on some of them when they were taken out? And if this guy's home address is known, why are there outstanding warrants for him? Sure Moki has a poop spreading robot maid but he's no Sipowitz, yet had no problem coming up with this d-bag's home addy. Inquiring minds want to know.

There's a cute saying that goes like this..."you either is or you ain't".

Beside, what changed is the FOG's decided to let the new fellows run with things for a while...give a man enough rope! ;)

New guys felt 'pushed' and they didn't like it...they whined loud enough to make it seem like they were being treated unfairly...oh wait...how were they treated on PUFF and it's predecessors? Even if this is the only board they ever joined, they came in here with disrepect and a child like attitude(one I know too well, I might add).

There was a reason to 'vet-out' individuals and call out others.

It's not like some of these old-timers havn't been around the block a time or too. ;)

Oh yea...my point...why change if it worked?

Yeah, as usual the man of few words makes them count. But as Tony and others have pointed out the drama is getting to be a bit much.........I say this purely from a selfish point of view as I sometimes struggle to fingers off the keyboard during the drama sessions. I make an ass of myself often enough.....I don't need temptation :whistling:

Gary: I meant this as a compliment.....I hope it didn't come off differently

Scares me to think about how many times I nearly purchased something HTF from SmokinJ because I couldn't find them anywhere else.

Luckily I never did, as it seems with many things in life, if it's too good to be true, it probably is.

Moki, thank you for the detective work, you have protected many people from him not only on CP, but on many other sites as well.

On the bright side, this thread has provided for an excellent lesson in restraint. I know I've learned a bunch here. I think most, if not all here know what of this thread to keep. A few have had their stock go down, and another few have enjoyed a gain when it could have easily gone the other way.

A point about Snobs though. Besides worshiping ggeise, I'm there because I want to be. I've said it before that Snobs is the Switzerland of cigar boards. Many go there to deal with multi board scumbags like smokinj. The rest read there because they can't help themselves.

I have definitely been in some messes and can say this is one of the biggest "clusterfucks" (as Doc mentioned) I have stepped in.

I was invited to join Cigarophile and was dubbed a founding member. I in no way registered there with any devious intentions. It was my understanding it was mainly going to be for buying and selling cigars. I have to admit, I'm not sure why an entire forum would need to be created for that. Anyone? ;)

As for the GB, I just don’t even know what to say. I definitely screwed up by not asking for Ed’s source up front and ensuring it was 100% legit. I did put trust in Ed mainly because he’s a member here, I've had good dealings with him before, and it was through PM here on CP that I was invited (after the initial invite, everything went to email). But still, I admit I stepped in without doing any due diligence.

I can say that I've not been too happy with the lack of communication throughout the entire GB. Once I initiated the first communication with the issues I saw in these cigars, everyone should've been immediately copied and informed of what was going on. It didn't happen. I know there was some communication, but again very lacking. When I found out about the scumbag list (Andrew was a huge help/resource…if there’s any doubt, let me re-assure you that ANDREW IS THE MAN!), I immediately called Ed. Shortly after, there were some communications with everyone copied, but again not enough information given, at least not for me. I want to know what's going on with this scumbag, not just his responses, but what he's being told as well. I actually would like to see ALL the correspondence with this guy from the beginning.

It cannot be stressed enough how unbelievably important communication is in these type dealings. It is absolutely key for any successful transaction.

I may be out some money, that’s okay. I’m actually glad I did get in on this because if I hadn’t, there would’ve been a ton of fake OR Fuentes all over the place. CigarPass has been and will be where I hang my hat (CP hat that is). I do try to keep somewhat active in other forums as well, due to I feel it’s good to stay in the know of what’s happening in the whole community. I tend to see most cigar forums as one giant community, but CP is more of a family, and one that I am proud to be a part of.

Ed is a class act and having done many GB and sales with him I know he will do the right thing. After reading through the 4 pages of posts too many have gotten involved here and put in their two cents. I completely understand protecting the community and I support that, but Ed didn't know nor did he purposely do anyone wrong. He should not be facing any firing squad or criticized.

New members’ vouching for new members has been discussed ad nauseam. I think this wasn't needed and misguided at best.

There is no firing squad, but criticism is warranted and expected. I had originally let this go by, but after re-reading the thread it needed to be said.

Great shots. I didn't think cello should be that yellow after 10 years. I wonder what was used to do that and if the cigars are even safe to smoke.

Keith

Just significant exposure to light can yellow cello in a very short time. I have seen cigars a month old sitting out with cello piss yellow because of how they were stored.

"FOG" is a loosely used term. Those who are here to actively participate in CP, care about CP, and have CP's best interest in mind are true FOGS. Those who are here to stroke their inflated egos, participate in constant drama, and only make an appearance when something happens are not "FOGS".

This entire situation is a great example of what not to do. Those newbies who want to defend other newbies, change the atmosphere/culture, participate/host questionable trades/sales will be dealt with accordingly.

Anthony - Once I review all of the evidence I will be sure to make the appropriate decisions.

Everyone else - if you're only here to get HTF cigars, sell/buy cigars, and put that before being part of the community, then you don't belong here.

Sometimes it's easier to spot this type of person than others..

Easy: When they turn their nose at a Padron Londres because it only costs $1.50
Easy: When they do everything they can to find "hard to find" cigars, but never smoke them
Not Easy: When they'll smoke anything, do everything they can to find hard to find cigars, and smoke them on occassion.. but secretly only smoke them to "impress".
Not Easy: Same as above, but they share with others. Sharing is what always makes it hard to find a snake.. although that seems to be the new way of "building" confidence/trust.

Although I don't have a dog in this fight (feel free to quote me on this),

The community isn't involved.

I laughed out loud when I read this. Jake's apology was a nice save later on though. Wait! Maybe I do have a dog in this fight.

I got all giddy inside and my disease ran wild causing irrational actions.

Holy shit, the Anonymityville Horror.

That would be me.

Community. Community is rife with human nature, which, runs the gamut from altruistic to sociopathic. Common sense is just an abstract of experience, and is meaningful only if there is appreciation for the latter. And there's nothing wrong with vicarious experience, and probably most rules that are meant for all have come out of the experiences of a few. Respect for and adherence to these rules, written or otherwise, is a part of any community. If one has to understand the spirit of a law before he can agree to it, fine. But efforts should at least be made in that direction before he "moves about" in that community. Otherwise, he's just arrogant and remains ignorant. And selfish.

This whole thing blows chunks. It sucks that you guys got fleeced. I've learned a lot reading this too: Don't try to fake "getting it". The sun's always gonna shine on the truth.

So would that indicate improper storage on a young cigar? Or is cell color inconsequential?
