Taking a little trip in a couple of days to Washington D.C. Does anyone have any recommendations on places to eat? Cigar friendly places? B&M? Anything off the beaten path and a bit less touristy?

We are mainly going for siteseeing and museums and stuff, but hey if you can get me a guided tour of the White House or get me accomendations in the Lincoln bedroom...all the better!!

Go to Curtis Drapers. The best cigar shop in the area hands down. Right across the street is an place called Shelly's back room its a cigar friendly restaurant. As far as places to eat besides Shelly's Back room. Go to a place called Capital city brewery, its right next to union station.. Let me know if you need any more recommendations. I have been living in/around DC for the past 5 years.

PS if you want to go up the Washington Monument-- look at this site http://www.nps.gov/archive/wamo/pphtml/fees.html The tickets itself are free, (only if you are willing to wake up and wait in line early in the morning, they sell out fast). I recommend paying the $1.50 to get your tickets in advance.

Also call up your senator or Representative's office, you can get tickets for a white house/capital tour. All you have to do is call up to see if they have anymore left, and then they can either mail it to you or you can pick it up at their office in DC which either to the left or right of the capital building.

Thanks David, appreciate the info!! :)

I know we are going to the Capital, my wife already set that up. I know she asked about the White House as well, but they either said no, or didn't respond. Its too bad, because we don't get in the area that often.

No problem, Let me know if you want to meet at Drapers for a quick little smoke.
