Hello all my name is Rob from Phoenix,Az.. And I was wondering If I could ask a question regarding freshness of cigars that probably has been answered a million times but I'm unsure on this one.
Today I received A glass sealed gallon jar full of cigars that have a sponge in them for humidity. I was told they were approximately 4 years old. the cigars are still fairly soft and some moist but there seems to be a whitish film on some that may be mold but cannot tell. So my question would be are these still ok and if they are should I do something to refreshen or?????
Thanks a million in advance. Me and my brother enjoy a cigar fairly frequently .... I'm just not sure on this.

Some pics would be helpful in this case. It's hard to answer what you're asking just by going by your description.

It would also be good if you went into the Introduction forum and posted an intro!

Yes, it is proper etiquette to introduce yourself 'Zoni'. What's up with all these AZ noobs joining as of recent? All these peeps putting AZ on the CP map.

Anyhoot, could be plume...

Sorry , still trying to figure out the site I believe I did get the intro in though

Thanks will try toI think it may be plume from all your replys though and thanks I found intro link

Look at the cigars under a magnifying glass. If the substance is crystalline in nature it's plume (This is not likely). If it's fuzzy it's mold. (likely) Even without seeing the cigars I would bet even money it's mold.

Doc.

Look at it through a magnifying glass. Plume is a crystal and mold is a hairlike growth with evil spoors that spread and spread until no Anejos are safe.

Damn you Doc!

Oh, yeah. Regular water in the humidifier can leave a nice white layer of calcium, lime, rust, fluoride, ecol i, whatever happens to be in the local water supply.
