After 4 years as an enlisted Forward Observer with the infantry, I was commissioned into the JAG Corp about a week ago. It was kind of fun to see the interesting reaction when the Major General who pinned me realized I was going from Specialist (E-4) straight to 1st Lieutenant (O-2). I'm excited about my new career path and looking forward to what's ahead of me. It's a weird transition, but I sure do enjoy the pay raise. I can only hope that I am as good an officer as those who have led and mentored me through my enlisted years.

Congrats Sir! In the Marine Corps you would be called a Mustang for going from enlisted to officer. Is that the same in the Army?

Congratulations! I would think that you would make a better officer being able to relate to the enlisted folks.

As enlisted, just remember to let the NCOs be NCOs.

Congrats on going from Green to Gold brother and the title of 13F will only be a memory now. I always thought in my 20+ years of active duty that prior enlisted soldiers made the best officers........ :thumbs:

They do indeed, but JAG officers are one of the exceptions to that rule, as direct commissionees.
