Question for the IT guys

A buddy of mine runs a small web based store that he sells product from. He does have a credit card processer. He would like to be able to start up a rewards program for repeat customes. Is this something that can easily be done? Any suggestions on how he should go about this? Is this something that would cost a ton of money to do?

One bump for this with more info. The website was created using Joomla and the payment system Virturemart. He is looking for any type of mod or plugin that will create a simple point based rewards programs for his customers. He would also be interested a cash reward program example spend $10 get $1 credit on next purchase $100 get's you $10 credit on next purchase. If anyone can point him in the right direction there woud be a 5er involved. If this is something onl a program developer can do does anyone know of one that is capable of doing a rewards program?

LOL. I work in IT and do say that quite often. My co-workers sometimes will make a joke similar to yours.
