Questions About Mold

I've recently noticed this fuzzy stuff on a few cigars in my humidor. It started on some H Uppman cabinet cigars. It was on the foot and around the cap. It was a very light green color, almost white. I threw out the Upmann cigars. Now I'm noticing it on this cigar and a few others.

At first I had thought it was the oils coming out of the wrapper as it aged, but then I noticed how fuzzy it became. Is this mold? If so, how do I get rid of it in my humidor? I keep my humidor around 69 - 70 % humidity.

But yes, it is mold.
Clean the humi and keep the RH down some.

Looks like mold to me. I would consider wipping it off as oppose to discarding the cigar. I would alos consider lowering my humidity a little.

Ok, thanks for the advice. I took them all out and wiped down the humidor. Segregated the moldy ones into an empty, smaller humidor after wiping them off with a damp (w/ distilled water) rag.

They don't look overtaken with the stuff, so I may try to smoke one tonight. No mold is visible since wiping them down.

I think I'll let the humidity get to about 60% and try to maintain that for a while, keeping an eye on them. Does that sound like a good idea?

I disagree on one point - I wouldn't bag them, I'd leave them out to dry. That assumes your ambient RH is lower than the RH in your humidor....

I'd still smoke them ASAP as Gary's right - they are probably moldy on the INSIDE as well.

I live in New Orleans, but it's been cold lately so the heaters have dried out the air. We do get times though when our ambient humidity is 90%

My one concern with that is, spread. I'm just cautious on protecting the other smokes that may not have an issue.
If I have a few that are in question, the one I may smoke that night get's dry boxed (away from the good stock) for at least the day.

Mold sucks.

Just smoked one of the moldy Bolivar royal caronas... tasty! No ill effects so far. I have 3 more in the separate humidor I will try to smoke soon...

Too humid. It's VERY common for new collectors to be overprotective of their cigars. Lower the RH and you'll never see mold again.

A local B&M has mold all over their cigars. They're in denial saying it's plume.
