<p><strong>The Beginning:</strong> My name is Michael and I live in Houston, TX. My passion for cigars started when I was a sophomore in college at the University of Texas (graduated '08). It has remained one of two constants in my life and will always be my "escape". Cigars have recently become my passion and I've found a very welcoming community in Houston and its surrounding areas. I work in the petroleum industry and frequently travel both in and outside of the United States. My adventures have allowed me to try regional cigars, some disallowed in my native country.<br><br><strong>What I Look For:</strong> I enjoy leaves with darker, complex characteristics and I absolutely abhor cigars with flavors or excessive spiciness. This preference is simply due to my personal pallet. I generally smoke smaller ring gauge cigars due to the way they deliver the smoke/flavor, but I am open to different shapes and sizes (especially if it enhances the character of that particular cigar). I use to be a big beer drinker and still enjoy a dark dunkel, rich porter or strong IPA, but I've recently acquired a personal preference for scotch. From single malts to blends I'm a big fan of most of them and am willing to try almost anything.<br><br><strong>Want to Try:</strong> Sadly, despite my years puffing, I became a creature of habit. I had a handful of favorites which I go to and rarely tried other cigars. This is why I joined this community. After attending the Texas Cigar Festival (April 2011) I realized that my experience is far from complete or well rounded. I'm open to all suggestions based upon "What I look for".<br><br>
