    Bolivar Fuerte

Smoked two Bolivar Fuerte 654's over the past week. They sure are "fuerte", but I was disappointed in their flavor. These are well made, attractive cigars with a strong kick, but mostly one dimensional in the taste department. Not bad smokes, but there are better full-flavored cigars out there.

    i hate computers pass

I once worked for The Computer Factory (a retail chain in late '80s and early '90s). As we were going out of business our service department was shutdown and we had to deal with the aftermath. One day a customer called demanding that we return his computer to him. It had been in for service, and...

    Clue Me On Rosada

Rosado wrapper is corojo leaf that has been fermented and aged longer than usual. I believe that it falls into "colorado" in the cigar color palette, but the extra fermentation produces the red hue. There are rumors that some manufacturers artificially treat the leaf to make it redder, just as...

    Hands across America Pass!!!

no problem, wolfman. I'll volunteer to be the next to last passer and everyone in the pass can put a 10 dollar bill in the box in addition to the cigars. when the box gets to me I'll use the money to buy a plane ticket and bring you the box. It's a dirty job, but I'll sacrifice myself for the...

What happened to the Hobbit BDay pass?

My May 17 birthday smokes have been mailed. I wanted to send something a little more festive than what I usually smoke, so I sent out Montecristo Cigares des Artes Delacroix Tubed. These are a 7x50 double corona, very smooth, multidimensional flavor, and a nice little "oomph" that kicks in...

    Whatcha Smokin' Lately?

weekend smokes were Excalibur Prensado maduro - really really good (from the 2k1 pass - thanks djm), LGC Corona maduro - pretty good but I'll stick with Wavells, and a couple of Mac Robust Ascots (killing time while grilling) - not bad for little cigars.Tonight there's a Cuban ERDM Choix Supreme...

    April Fools pass

Finally got to smoke again. Tried one of the corona sized sticks with the little curly cap. Nice looking ems wrapper, firmly rolled. Smoked it outside in the evening, around 50 degrees. Burned nicely, medium bodied, taste very reminiscent of Honduran/Villazon cigars. Belinda Spanish Twist perhaps?

    April Fools pass

Tex,3 was a Jose Marti (Nicaragua) Petit Lancero. Good short smoke; one of my winter cigars this year.4 was a Connie #17 maduro. I tried to pick a good one, but they can be hit or miss, like any other Consuegra.

    April Fools pass

Tex,Number 1 was a Double Happiness Rapture. For an inexpensive mild smoke I think they have a unique taste profile. I think of it as a warm curry flavor, but very subtle.Number 2 was an ERDM Rectangulares (EMS). One of my favorites. I really like the aroma and smoke; the taste, for me, has a...

    Ripped from the headlines...

I find it interesting that nowhere in the article does it say he's charged with doing this for profit. Usually "smuggling" implies resale - maybe here they just busted a recreational smoker. That "false statement on a passport application" can't be helping him.
