How consistant have you folks found the microprinting on the warranty seals? At best I have found the letters mostl legible but with areas that could not be read and at worst, none of the letters can not be read at all. This range of quality is from about ten boxes from four different online...

You know, it could always be possible that the seller of my lamp has made erroneous claims about it's wavelength and it is in fact NOT a short wave lamp. That does not explain why the minerals that fluoresce with short wave lamps react to this lamp. I am completely confused. Wish we had a way...

I don't mean to be contrary, but my short wave lamp works well on the seals. Perhaps I got a strange light, but it does make all the proper minerals (the ones that react only to short wave light) glow, as they are supposed to.

Like Wilkey says, it's gotta be SHORT WAVE UV. I have a long wave lamp and a short wave lamp for mineral specimens and only the short wave works. The pure short wave lamps can be expensive, but there are some cheapo's on ebay that are little hand held plastic fluorescent units that run on AA...
