Matthew Adam

I am a fine artist from Long Island.
Smoked cigars since June '10, I'm a newbie.

So far I've tried a general assortment, Patel, Nica Libre, Perdomos, Leon Jimenes (awful, one step above White Owls with dirt flavor), Macanudo, Romeo y Julieta, Montecristo, Acid (hate em), Vegas A, Partagas etc..

I liked the Perdomo, Macanudo, Nica Libre most of all. The tangyness of the Macanudo Gold wrapper I like alot. I'm a bit of a chewer so I like wrapper flavor.

Generally, I'm not a rich guy so the most important thing is to keep quantity up. I'm coming off of smoking cigarettes and slowly bringing down my consumption per day which is at 3 or 4 cigars right now. I survive in the $2-4 range. I've heard on the board good things about Padron which I have to try but I realize they're in a higher range. Heard nothing but bad things about Gurkha. Never had an ISOM, now is not the time to go there. When I can learn to really know how to really appreciate one cigar a day or a week, then I'll seek refined tastes.

I generally like sweet, tangy, or generally flavorful, mild-medium to medium bodied best. Nutty, creamy, it's all good. Not as much into woody, leathery or spicy, but I'm 100% willing to try anything as far as taste and strength goes. I don't want to pigeonhole my tastes just yet not having tried alot of things.. Not a huge fan of the Vegas A (lacks flavor to me), Patel (also lacking flavor and has a plastic feel, no wrapper flavor), Partagas Black (way too strong and mossy for me) I had.
I don't really know anything about aging at all.

Hate cigarillos. 45-50 ring gauge is perfect for me but I have no problem trying anything 40-60, length doesn't matter much to me but longer is better than shorter. Shape is no concern right now.

If a cheaper cigar tastes good, even though some would consider it a dog rocket, I'll try it. There are something on the CI website called Cuban Originals at about $2 per stick sold by bundle that I like alot as far as flavor. Nice everyday decent smoke. So I'm not a cigar snob... yet. : )

That is as thorough as I can be for having been into it for only 2 months. Still got alot to learn.
