Thinking about ordering a 100% custom humidor

So, I've been MIA for the past month with work. One of those times where you spend all month practically on the road and can't think straight! Apologies to all those who've PM'd me, I'll be responding shortly. I finally got my camera recharged and time to take/upload a few pictures. The...

    Tweetidor

I'd like to see it indexed with a series of humidity sensors so you could see air flow and temp problems through the day!

    Cohiba Sublimes Extra 2008

Sounds like it was over humidified a bit, were you running 70 or 65 where you stored it? The Cohiba stuff seems to soak up humidity very quickly and then draw tough, especially towards the end of the smoke. I can't remember what causes it, some sort of mix of tar and hygroscopic properties iirc...

Thinking about ordering a 100% custom humidor

Let me clear up a bit of confusion here. My Avallo is great and I'm not discarding it because it's stratifying, I'm just ready for another humidor as an expansion or possibly replacement (depending on capacity) and want one of the 100% custom pieces. Which is not Avallo's line of business. I...

Thinking about ordering a 100% custom humidor

I think that the way those guys traditionally do it is to take their sort of standard humidor design and then just encase it in whatever you'd like them to build. This idea's shape seems so odd I think it'd be quite different.

Damn, good tip. I'm going to email them.

Thinking about ordering a 100% custom humidor

So, I've been thinking about ordering a completely custom humidor from some one, but am not sure where to even start now that Arlin Liss has called it quits. I have an Avallo which I really love but I made the mistake of ordering it without cooling (which really sucks) and it has a tendency to...

    H Upmann Mag 48

I keep hoping we'll find something that taste likes the Upmann Robusto blend that was unbelievable. But, truth of the matter is that at the price of these things it's not a huge stretch to buy a box and see if you like it. I'm placing an order today. Same goes for those new Trinidad Robustos. I...

    Interested in HDTV?

I don't know, my SXRD blows my plasma away in picture quality. Personally I love buying TV's every couple of years, then you have another cool TV to relocate to the Cigar Den, or the office or wherever. Another couple years and I'll end up with a 42 inch plasma in the bathroom....

    Bolivar Belicosos Finos

Good cuban cigars are a real case of YMMV the famous Your Mileage May Vary. Each box and vitola can go through different periods and tastes. If it tastes young, smoke another, if it still tastes young you unfortunately have to move on to another box of cigars for a while and let them work their...

To tube or not to tube?

Sometimes I like to leave the caps off, but really the outside air should slowly slink it's way into the tube and slowly acclimate the cigar to your humidor, with the lid on.

    Thinking of getting a motorcycle..

I'd say finance it if you can at all, you want a bike that's not a hassle. 3K is pretty low for a normal bike if you don't know how to work on them or tell when something isn't right. I'd actually opt for something like a Ducati Monster frankly, unless your credit is a wreck you can get one of...

Man, what a life! Beautiful family, beautiful humidor, awesome mancave. Enjoy a smoke for us working stiff's out here in the tech sector, long nights, not enough cigars....

    VewyPhishy - fake cigars

I don't mean this to be a third party comment per se, but when you get things from "reputable sources" it's going to come with an order email, wouldn't it be simple enough to forward this over to Rod and/or the buyers and say "Maybe I got scammed, but this place is legit and let me make it right...

    New Cuban Warranty Seal

Are you saying that some boxes are coming through that have the serial numbers removed, but are using the new tax seal? I haven't gotten any such boxes but it would make clear sense since Habanos is really hoping to catch parallel importation with this trick.

    Storage question

You might consider stratification, take your hygro and calibrate it properly then move it around your cooledor and see if there's a big variance in certain sections. My experience is that 65 is dead on for ISOM's but you may find sections of your humidor (after calibration) are at 70 or 60.

    Some Bad News

It's all fantasy money anyway, the CUC is linked but the normal convertible peso goes nowhere for those people. Every US dollar is turned into a CUC and then placed in the national coffers to be spent by the Castro administration. The Russians were the same way back when they had two rubles. I...
