    Insider wine recommendations

Any insider recommendations on the soon to be released Beaujolais Nouveau? I've heard rumors that 2005 is shaping up to be a good year in France (but really, what winemaker says their current vintage is bad).

    Recommend me a new car

As you might guess from my moniker, I'm biased towards the Scoobie. The Legacy GT is a very nice machine. I'd be hard pressed to pass on an '04 S4 if I found one that was unabused and within my buying power though.

    Sake recommendations

There's a pretty common American made Sake line made by Momokawa named after various gemstones/precious metals. They're good enough quality to tell if you'll like sake, without having to learn Japanese and track down the rare, famous brands. At ~$10/bottle you should be able to pick up a...

    Cigars for the common cold

For bacteria these waterless handwashes are probably fine. Their active ingredient is generally an alcohol of some sort, and bacteria don't get resistant to that. If the stuff has alcohol, ctiric acid, and malic acid, it'll be pretty good at destroying the viruses that cause common cold too...

    Cigarauctioneer auto-bid

Seems like a scheme to discourage people from lowballing initial bids in the hope of picking up a bargain. Of course, from the consumers' point of view, that's the entire point of an auction so... I can understand his reasoning, but he probably won't do terribly well trying to counter the now...

    F1: Chinese Grand Prix

I haven't watched this season since the US"GP". Been a fan for 10+ years, and I've never seen anything so disgraceful as that. I'll probably start watching again next season just to see how things fall.

    Aged wine

Thanks for the links; I think for now I better keep educating myself before diving into aging seriously. Lots of money and potential pitfalls from what I see so far. There's more decent, inexpensive wine out there now than ever it would seem too, so it's not like I won't have anything to do...

    Aged wine

Think I might have just adopted yet another expensive hobby. I've been "into" wines for a few years now (since reaching legal age basically). I've had plenty of ok/mediocre wine, plenty of good wine, and a little fine wine, but never anything with serious age on it. Until yesterday, when I...

    Recommendations

I'm just a newb, but from the one I've had I'd say the Monte #4 was not something I'd consider medium-heavy bodied. It was a great cigar, but not heavy at all. Now, that is based on smoking just one of them, so I may have gotten a non-representative example. I'll leave it to the more...

    Hey everyone...

As a n00b I'd like to propose an alternate use for your $99. Take $5 of it and buy a nice, sealable tupperware container. Take another $5-10 and buy some form of humidification (gel, drymistat tubes, etc) Take the other $90 and check out the NSTT on this site...

    Thanks Guys!

I don't know you atuck, but I wish the best for your mother and whole family through what must be an agonizing process.

    Newbie Wine lover

I am right in the heart of the Finger Lakes AVA and frequently tour the wineries on the western shore of Cayuga Lake and Eastern shore of Seneca Lake. It is good fun, but I have to say I think there's a lot of mediocre (overly sweet, boring rieslings) wine made here. There are, of course, a...

    Blends

Most of the best/most famous wines in the world are "blends" and not pure varietals. Heck, many US wines labeled as varietals only have to be 75% that grape, so they could be (and often are) blends too, really. Non Us wines usually aren't even named by the grapes at all, but by the growing...

    Ultimate Cigar Reference

That's pretty cool! Should be great for n00bs like me as a reference when starting to pass.

    College friends spoiled me badly!

They were priced fairly well, yes. Slightly above MSRP, probably because of taxes, none of the $30+/cigar nonsense. The ones we bought were Reserva d'Chateau @ $16 ea. I think MSRP is ~$13 ea. for those.

    College friends spoiled me badly!

Their B&M store in Manhattan does; they do not sell them on their website or ship them out though, I asked while I was there. When I was there they had 3 boxes, all roughly half gone.

    College friends spoiled me badly!

Well, my college friends got me, and got me good. I'm getting married next June, and ever since I got engaged my friends have been planning this little trip for me, keeping all the details save for the dates secret from me. The trip happened over last weekend, from Thursday to Monday (I...

Fuente Opus X have reached the DC area

Got you all beat: one of the popular shops in Montreal was selling FFOXs for $60cdn ($51USD)or $70 ($60USD) / single (forget which two sizes) when I was in there Monday. I decided to sample the cigars on the "other side" of the humidor instead. :whistling:

    First ISOMs

A question: While all the "famous" Cuban vitolas are insanely expensive here in Canada, there are some cigars at reasonable prices. They're mainly very small (for cigarrs), petite corona or even smaller, and "only" $4-5 each. Are any of these worth buying? Most of the more notable brands...
