Had a very delicious Hemingway Signature out on the deck while enjoying the breeze.

I think they smell like a stripper. I suppose that's handy if you're short on cash and you want to hit up the club. Just light one and leave it in the ashtray, pop a luke-warm beer, turn on some techno or funk, and imagine. But that's about all I can come up with.

Going to be doing my first beer as soon as the stuff comes in. I managed to pick up an IPA extract kit, but the use of dried yeast and pre-hopped malt didn't sound like it'd make the greatest beer, so I'm subbing in light dried malt extract for the corn sugar recommended by the can. I've got...

I just finished Heat by Bill Buford. Excellent book about a guy that goes on from a newspaper columnist to a cook for Mario Batali. Now onto Emile Zola's The Belly of Paris, with Hunter S. Thompson's The Rum Diaries next.

Two weeks of rest, coupled with plenty of fluids and antibiotics, have rendered me fit as a fiddle. I'm in for Saturday, and I'll be bringing a friend along, who Isy knows. Should be good times!
