    What's in your pipe today?

Christmas Cheer '08 last night in my Boswell. Tin Aroma: Typical McClelland ketchup/vinegar smell, but really rich and smokey. Appearance: Broken pressed flake, dark brown with hints of lighter tobacco pressed between the darker flakes. Moisture: Out of the tin it was too moist, but I laid...

    Pipes and Tobacco Magazine

I came across it probably 6 months ago but had forgot about it. The site is decent and has some good articles to read. At the time, there was not a huge amount of content on the there so I read most of it but haven't thought to check on it since. Thanks for the reminder!

Haha, I'll blame all the organic cold remedies my girlfriend has me on. They work really well but I can only ingest so many flowers, seeds and herbs before it starts going to my brain. :D

Boswell Pass II - IN PROGRESS

I literally had a nightmare last night that this showed up at my house and the box was a mess and falling apart. I tried smelling it but the box had no scent at all and I was so disappointed. When I went to open it, the side of the box broke and all the tobacco spilled out of the bags and tins...

Great puts and takes! I have about a 1/2 pound of McClelland #2015 which is the same as Southport which I did not know. It is realllllly good. Powerful stuff and really tasty. :D I'm off to pad lock my mailbox.

What tobacco's do you have on hand

No problem. Like I said, they were a couple of the earlier tins I bought but moved away from them when I ventured more towards the English & VaPer blends.

I hope this stays away from me for the next week or so, at least until this cold passes so I can fully enjoy the smell from this box. :(

What tobacco's do you have on hand

To be honest, I am not a huge fan, but they both have pretty great reviews on TR.com. They are heavily cased aromatics (they were a couple of the first tins I bought when I started pipe smoking), and they tend to burn hot. The tin aroma is amazing and the room note is decent, but the flavor is...

    Have A Happy

I'm a little late on this thread from being sick, but happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone! It's been a pleasure spending time in the pipe room and I'm thankful for everyone that has lent their advice or opinion for a beginner like me. Now it's on to the Christmas season and many pipes to be...

Nothing is fun when you are sick

Damn. Now it's my turn. Was fine all day Thanksgiving, even enjoyed a pipe while watching the parade. Friday woke up feeling like my head weighed a hundred pounds. I've got a mucus factory working overtime in my face. No pipes for me this weekend. :( Time to start working on shutting down...

Experience with Peretti blends or pipes?

I learned that they have been in business since 1870 in Boston and in their current store since the early 1930's. I didn't realize they made pipes as well. I don't know who the carver is but it seems they have a ton of them in the store as well as a LOT of tobacco. I may make a trip down there...

Experience with Peretti blends or pipes?

So I just discovered that L.J. Peretti Tobacconist is less than 40 min from my house. I have never tried any of their blends or heard much of their pipes but I am curious as to anyone else's experience with them. -Adam

    old soul

I find your thread title interesting... My mom has always told me that since the minute I was born she had the feeling I was an "old soul". I'm 28 and there is this strange allure to the pipe that I feel is some weird tie to a time past. I think many of the people who are pipe smokers feel this...

    taking the plunge....

Enjoy the pipe! Most importantly TAKE YOUR TIME! Do not be discouraged if your first experience is less than what you had expected it to be. Pipe smoking is somewhat of an art form and no one paints the Mona Lisa their first time at the canvas. There are sooooo many tobaccos to choose from that...

Haha, the funny thing is I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. Many ol' days in my dads work shop when I was younger.
