    Colibri Bankrupt?

Had three and they all broke within a few days of use. I now use matches and when I'm in a bind, use a Porche Design torch that my wife bought for me this last christmas.

High gloss or natural oiled look?

Used to think that the piano finish was nice. I guess after seeing some work done w/ that finish, it really seemed to conceil the character of the wood. Even sometimes would be too distracting. Rubbing all the way.

    Is This MOLD?

The reason for the color on the rag was the oils in the wood coming out. Thats the stuff that gives the wood its aroma and color. When all of that is gone, dried out wood will look like the bleached hunks you would see on the beaches. It also looses some of its strength. Pritty amazing.

    in or out?

Gabe, the cello doesn't keep the mold out. I know this from experience. It will help protect from other gars w/ mold, but if it's 'infected' by mold from the source, then you run the risk of it blooming. From what everyone has been saying here, just keep it on. It protects the contents yet...

I'm a new member so I thought I'd share my hobby

As far as the dovetails go, I just thought you used a larger router bit for the first cut on the face board and then cut into the next piece w/ a smaller bit. Like the contrast. Lots going on in your pieces. Like I said, very impressive.

I'm a new member so I thought I'd share my hobby

I'm very impressed. I'm an artist by training and have to say, those are pieces of art. Hands down. Now, how do you finish the wood? If its a trade secret, then I understand. Do you use a mix of varnish and oil? Rubbed on or sprayed on? Oh, those dovetail-details are very interesting...

Sorry, just gotta get a consensus

Ok, this is about mold. If you dont want to read further, hit back now. In the area that I live in, there is no need for humidification devices. I just open the humidors when the ambient percentages is between 65% to 68%. The humidors hold the humidity well, so I just open the boxes to just...

    Moldy boxes

Exactly, but I guess these boxes I recieved were on the bottom of their stocking room or something. I have to say, all of the companies did replace w/ no questions asked. Really great to have companies like these around.

    Moldy boxes

No, these few boxes came from completely different retailers from different sides of the continent.

    Moldy boxes

I don't know if you guys have been noticing, but it seems that the most resent boxes I've received has seen some amount of mold. The worst was this last shippment of AB Tempus Centuria, where every single cigar had a bit of mold. I also could feel the moisture when I took out the cigars on...

One box of moldy Alec Bradley Tempus Centuria. The company I bought it from was very helpful and quick to respond, so I got another one coming.

    Storing in Ziplocs

Without getting entangled, I just 'burp' my stock thats in airtight storage. I do that every weekend, and if the humidity is close enough, I just leave the boxes and humis open till the humidity starts to rise or fall below desired %'s.

    Mold

I got hit twice. First time, threw away a butt load of sticks. The second, made sure there wasn't any mold on the foot and just wiped them. I have been monitoring them for the last 2-3 months. No mold has come back, and the humidity is around 68-70%. Smoked a few of them, and no flavor...

    Best cigar you ever had.....

The two that come to mind is the padron 1926 #9; 2nd is a La Aurora Preferidio Tubo Emerald (Ecuadorian/Sumatra wrapper). Had both for about a year, cruzin on the bottom of my humidor.
