How old were the tins? I got two tins of the robusto maybe two years ago. I smoked (or attempted to) the first one right away and it was downright awful. I got them from a more than reputable shop so I know they were on the up and up. I clipped the cap off of one a month ago to try them...
Likewise. I grabbed one out of the "don't know what that is, I'll put it in here" coolidor that's full of one off's and damaged sticks. Had an Outlaw Bad to the Bone 2007 I marked "Pepin". It was stupendous. I dug for more but was rewarded only with spilled beads.
Still crushed by the passing of Sharron Jones. Getting funky to 100 Days 100 Nights. I haven't seen anybody make a crowd move like that since Mavis Staples.
From my experience "boutique" means overpriced and fashionable. There are diamonds in the rough though. Fratello's Bianca line is reasonably priced and a great smoke. I enjoy most of Roma Craft's offerings. HVC, Dunbarton and Trust, and Caldwell all have great offerings that don't break the...
Good Lord, I love Orange Julius. Add the froth and booze and you have a winner. It seems to be raining Three Floyds here in Ohio. On my third bottle of Blood of the Sunsets after an Alpha Klaus porter. Four finals today...all nothing but stoichiometry and I deserve this! I used to get 3F's...
Sadly, Kids Bob number something or another...
Cleaned up an acre of leaves so I pulled out the fall time stuff.
Magnolia Electric Company...Bonnie Prince Billy...and of course some old Simon and Garfunkel.
Always eyed these, but haven't read a good review yet.
Broke open a box of Tat Jason. The first half was a carbon copy of what they were fresh(very good, not great), the second half hit the great mark. Maybe next fall.
Just finished the new LFD 1994. LFD fan or not it is one hell of a smoke. Much more approachable in terms of strength and more nuanced. Once I saw the price point, especially compared to my beloved LGD small batch cigars, I snagged a box from Jack Schwartz. Definitely worth a try.
Don't overthink it. I've done this a hundred times. I like lock'n'lock because it can't pop open if my pack takes a dive. A Boveda is all you need. I'd caution against keeping them in a cooler. They are bound to get wet. Keep them in your tent because frankly, you aren't going to keep them...
Had a Las Calaveras last night. Good flavor, but it was a wind tunnel and not very enjoyable. Smoking my second now and the draw is on the easy side of spot on. Good cigar.
Picked up a Xikar VX V cutter. It is heavy duty and makes an incredible cut without pulling on the wrapper. Works great to calm down the draw for my LFD's that tend to be air tunnels.
Added an entire box of the Caldwell Long Live the King's to the humi.
I'll add mine.
1.Both
2.Once or twice
3.Flat
4.8"
5.Small and out of the way of storage.
6.A few wood grains, 2-3 basic colors
7.Take care with a clever area for humidification. Too many require the device take up storage room or look bad if the top is glass.
I got them when they first hit the market. Initially, I thought the sourness worked well, but it seems to becoming more of the prominant flavor instead of complimenting the core flavors. I'll give them another six months and crack the box again. It was still a solid cigar, but one liked...
Had a quick Illusione Rothschild. These are not coming along as well as I had wished with as many as I purchased. It just seemed a bit sour. Hopefully, they'll make a comeback. And then I sneaked in an old Fuente Hemingway Classic maduro from years ago. It was great.
Tried two of the new Caldwell releases. Both toro'ish sizes. The Long Live the King was hands down spectacular. Box worthy spectacular. The King is Dead is solid, but nowhere near as good.
You aren't kidding about the just empty every pocket (hadn't heard that). I've spend over $1000 bucks with Quadratech alone and haven't really done a thing. How in the hell am I supposed to keep up the cigar inventory!? I don't have a garage so I'm going to have to figure out what to do with...
