This type of thing is right up Diageo and JW's Marketing alley. With Cherry, Honey and god knows what else flavored spirits I was wondering where the market would go next. Given recent trends I don't know how but, it appears there is a market for this stuff. I can tell you it certainly isn't...
Good to know. Some of the reviews I have seen have had mixed reviews. I think if you drink it on its own merits and do not expect it to be GTS it ends up being a better experience.
Picked up a bottle of this today while I was on the hunt for his old man and uncles. Ended up bringing this little orphan home as the rest of his Family left him there by his lonesome. :(
Anyone try this juice yet? Also, If any fellow cp'ers need a bottle I can probably grab some (PM me...
I have had their Rum Cask. It is excellent. My memory tells me it is was like a well rounded more complex New Castle with a pronounced vanilla finish from the oak. Really interesting brew. If you see it definitely give it a go, it will not disappoint.
Currently enjoying a Newcastle Werewolf. Really nice brew. It has the classic New Castle flavor with a red ale kick, medium Bodied and a really enjoyable crisp malty finish.
I'm going to have to get some more.
This has been on my bucket list for some time now. I tried to organize a dozen or so friends to head down play some golf and pick out our barrel last spring. Ended up not having enough participation. When all was said and done and each of the remaining crew needed to purchase 40 bottles...
Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix. This is better than I remember. Really enjoying the dry vanilla and apple / pear combo.
So much so that I am contemplating a purchase of their Malt Master or 18yo Ancient reserve. Anyone have any experience with them?
Just popped the cork on an Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. I believe this is batch #1 at 134.2 proof. This is a GREAT bourbon and a fairly unprecedented buy at $39.99. I only bought 1 bottle and now they are all gone. Wishing I bough more, if you see this definitely jump on it!
Four Roses LE 2011. Really an excellent pour. During my BTAC and PV frenzy I missed out on the 2012. I gotta remember to try to grab one this time around.
Came up with a new concoction. Gotta say I'm really liking it. Essentially, Its a bastardized Manhattan.
I muddle some orange mint leaves (my wife planted these in the garden and I was on a mission to find a cocktail to put them in, I think I found it  ) add 3oz of Woodford Reserve...
I agree it is pretty cool tinkering with and tweeking the recipes. Everything that has come out of mine has been excellent definitely fun to experiment and my buddies are always asking what I have on tap.
Khari, you attention whore!!! :-)
Hey you ever end up getting that barrel? I am still using mine. Made a multiple batches of Manhattans, Negroni's and Margarita's. All have been really good. I have found you can use cheaper spirits and the oak really masks some of the roughness and...
Great thing about a free market economy, if people will buy it there will be somebody there to supply it. My only bones is that in a State run liquor system they only have so many sku's they can keep active and they will cut something to make room for something else. We recently lost one of my...
This trend has gotten crazy. Flavored Vodka and rum is one thing. Hell I have even seen a blueberry tequila. But, man leave my whiskey be. I blame the sacriligious Red Stag for starting this. I am not sure who is drinking this stuff but, I hope this is the end of this trend and not the...
Good Stuff I really liked the way mine came out. I used 4 parts Jeffersons Rye to .75 parts Noilly Pratt Rouge and a couple teaspoons of Peychards Bitters. When the 2L barrel was full I added about 2 0z of Solerno, it is a blood orange liquor and gave it a slight orange depth. I as I drank I...
Its pretty cool. I run a solerno type barreling where when I have a glass then I refill and tweak it based off what i think it needs. I rebarrel in glass when I have it just right. I know others have had mixed success with these but, IMHO the Manhattans and the Negroni's have been really well...
