I loved Odell IPA when I had it in CO last December! The other night I had a 2011 Bourbon County Coffee that was fantastic...still drinking well even though the coffee has faded just a bit. Definitely in my top 3 of greatest beers ever, especially fresh.
Also had a Full Sail Top Sail BA...
Drinking a Boulevard Imperial Stout. Damn I love this beer! I hope they send this to TX this year and given that we got Rye on Rye I have a feeling we will finally see it.
Had a few glasses of Angels Envy from Lincoln Henderson last night. This is a damn good and really smooth Bourbon finished in port barrels. Not too bad for around $45 either.
Anyone tried this one yet? I think it's pretty new to the scene.
I've had it before thanks to my buddy MASPuros but yeah I hope they send some here soon...I enjoyed it.
Tonight I had some weird Blue Moon beers they just put out. Chocolate Bacon Porter and Apple Caramel Spiced Amber. Both were very meh but they weren't too bad.
George T Stagg
William Larue Weller
Ron Zacapa XO
Crown Royal Cask 16
Strathisla 30 Year Old - so damn good!
Hell I would have put all of the BTAC bottles in this list if I still had the Handy and Eagle Rare...
I had a 2008 recently and it had noticeably fallen off...I'd love to try it fresh though. I've heard these are best either fresh or with about a year of age.
9% isn't that strong man...I had a Bruery Melange #3 a few weeks ago that is 15% and it was a 750ml bottle. I was definitely feeling it after taking that one down.
Last Saturday I had a 2009 Dark Lord I got from MasPuros a long time ago (thanks Mike!). Interesting beer and now I see why there is such a love/hate thing going on with this beer...the flavors were all over the place from sweet to slightly salty. I need to try one fresh now to see how it is...
Have you had the Imperial Coconut Porter from them? It's amazing stuff and what I wish the canned version tasted like. Tons of chocolate and coconut sweetness.
I've been drinking crazy things the past few weeks.
2011 Black Tuesday on NYE
2011 Barrel Aged Yeti
Williamsburg AleWerks Cafe Royal...
The things that weren't ruled for in Jester King's favor are going to be near impossible to overturn. The selling of beer at a brewery may never happen due to the Distributor's lobbying efforts that put money in the politician's pockets. I don't know why they think people won't continue to buy...
Had so much crazy beer lately. My top pick has to be Founders CBS though. What an amazing beer! I didn't think the maple would be detectable but it adds a sweetness that I thought KBS was missing. Definitely have to track down a few more of these!
The past few nights I've had:
The Bruery Batch 300 - Very interesting take on a Tripel. Dry hopped with Citra it had a discernable citrus hop presence along with the flavors of a Belgian Tripel which I thought was an interesting take on the style.
Abita 25th Vanilla Doubledog - I love Doubledog...
I don't mind DFH Punkin but to me it's kinda bland. I'm a fan of Weyerbacher, Sam Adams, and Heavy Seas pumpkin ales. TREAT is great as well but yeah it's kinda pricey and limited. Heavy Seas Great'er Pumpkin and Unita Oak Jacked are very nice barrel aged pumpkin ales.
Avery is putting out...
Had some great beers in the past 3-4 days:
Boulevard Tank 7 - Wow what a great Saison! I definitely plan to buy this regularly in the 4-packs...especially in the summer.
Uinta Oak Jacked Imperial Pumpkin Ale - Pretty good barrel aged pumpkin ale.
Rahr La Grange Saison - Not the best Saison but...
