Fishing wasn't great last weekend at one of our Missouri trout parks, but since it's still catch and release season I pretty much had the place to myself. I'll take 3 fish in 2 days in solitude over 50 fish and a crowd anyday. Caught up on some smoking, big time. Most cigars not pictured, but...
I think it was the late 90's when I was just learning about cigars, and I was in a "no Jack Schwartz" level cigar store in Chicago asking about these famous Opus X that CA said tasted like blueberries. Zero Opus, but the guy was hard selling me on Lars, talking about the long lasting serious...
Working in IT I'm with a lot of folks from India, and over the years I've taken a deep dive into the food. Only started cooking it in earnest the last couple of years, and my teammates know I want brutal honesty...compare me to how your grandma makes it and let it rip. Tomorrow I'm taking in...
Thanks! Definitely going to be in Estes June 6-13, staying right on Fall River for the bait-sized trout, lol. Zeroed in on a couple of different shops for 1 guided full day. I have so much to learn still that I'll probably plan a "real" trout trip sometime in 2021.
I just smoked one of those the other day and really liked it. Bought on a whim when I wanted to sit and smoke at a local lounge. I'm not smoking nearly as many Nicaraguan cigars these days, so the level of spice and flavor may not measure up for some, but I'd definitely smoke more.
Well I just found out that there are a few spots in Missouri where they started stocking musky twenty or so years ago. My grandpa always went up to the boundary waters to fish for them, but back when I was too young to join him. I just assumed you had to get close to Canada to find any of...
I'm guessing there are a number of fly fishermen on here that have been at it way longer than me...I'm only about a year in and haven't fished anyplace other than local lakes, rivers, and Missouri trout parks. We'll be up in Estes Park for a week in early June, so I'm planning at least one...
Checking out the new cigar lounge near my house in KC, and smoking my first one of these Monte Maltese Linea something something. This is a genuinely good smoke, a whole lot going on from cedar to cherry to dirty barn. Will buy more when our friend whose toilet flushes backwards has a vetted batch.
Checking back in on these little guys...good, but my Gran Cano's are hard to beat. Wish they'd do a regular production hand rolled (PC's machine bunched?)vs. all of these $$$$ RE's. They are something I could get into.
I got 6 of these Upmann robustos in a travel humidor a few years back, and I have no idea if they represent a larger limited edition release. They're very good, would smoke more. Richer than a Connie 1 but less depth of flavor than something like my favorite Mag54's.
The 08/2017 898's aren't getting any prettier, but man they are smoking GREAT. Just delicious and a perfect draw. Still a peppy zing in the retrohale, I think these will age indefinitely.
Great weekend with the family down in southern Missouri, caught my first trout on a fly rod with an assist from my 6 year old so it could be her first ever trout. Smoked my first RyJ Añejado. Try a couple if you get the chance, I probably enjoyed it more than the others I've tried. Plenty of the...
