Plasencia, and it’s not close for me. Lots of excellent cigars out there, but the outstanding construction and performance, the variety of flavor profiles offered across their lines, and overall consistency puts Plasencia at the top of my list.
Not a big fan of My Father, but am a fan of Pagan Peak. Yes it’s not as fast paced as U.S. shows, but better characters, better writing and better storytelling. I’ve watched the first two seasons. Well worth your time.
Glad you enjoyed it. The only downside is the price so I wait to catch them on sale. Hiland’s has a Plasencia 40% off sales about every 4-6 weeks and I stock up.

Plasencia Alma Fuerte Generación V Salomon
It seems that regardless of what other excellent cigars I enjoy, I always come back to the Alma Fuerte. The rich full flavors combined with the luxuriant creamy smoke texture and the consistent excellent construction that provides a great draw and burn...
The arrival of cool weather here in central Texas has been such a relief I’m afraid I’ve gone beyond my normal 1-2 cigars a week. It’s just so nice to sit out on the deck and enjoy a smoke during the day. The last two weeks have made up for a bunch of missed cigars over the summer.
Illusione Singularé Origen Churchill 6 3/4 X 48. Sat out this morning before it got so hot that my cigar might spontaneously combust and enjoyed this Illusione. Very tight draw that required some attention, but after that a nice draw and an even burn. The cigar is listed as full strength, but...
Plasencia cigars are like bacon, you can never have enough!
FYI: Didn't win the lotto, but Hiland’s had 40% off on Plasencia and it just seemed wrong not to take advantage of those prices.
I feel your pain. I’m in Round Rock and the heat has killed any afternoon/evening cigars. Went out for a cigar the other night at 10:30pm and it was still 93°! I have tried a morning smoke at around 8am, but it’s got to be a mild stick.
Oh the horrors! Smoking and animal abuse in one photo, there should have been a warning label.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wish I had been there with you. Looks like a good day.
Start with some nice thick double cut chops, brine for 6 hours, add some dry rub, smoke for 1 1/2 hours, then a quick sear on a very hot sear plate on the grill. Add some grilled asparagus, smoked onion, and salt potatoes and you’ve got a meal! Followed with with an Ashton VSG Sorcerer out on...
No. It was one of the sticks in a monthly cigar club shipment my son gave me for my birthday. It’s the only Bahamian cigar I’ve ever had. Pretty good. Bold flavor without being harsh, great draw, even burn, and produced nice amount of smoke. It wouldn’t knock out any of my favs to get a spot in...
The sweet spot for me is from 48 to 52. As they get bigger I think the wrapper leaf plays less of a role in the flavor just due to the larger mass of filler and binder tobacco. In addition to me getting a more appealing flavor I also find the smaller gauges burn more evenly, but that’s just me...
La Historia by E.P. Carrillo. Damn fine cigar. Excellent draw with plenty of thick creamy smoke. Smooth throughout. Add this one along side the Pledge and the Encore and I’d say EPC has hit the trifecta.
A permit is required for a shotgun?!?! You’ve got to be kidding. I knew a handgun permit was next to impossible in NYC, but a permit for a shotgun. You have my sympathy.
