Pilsner Urquell is my go to "light" beer. Love Guiness Foreign Extra due to my time spent in the Caribbean. Both are very different from each other and go well with a nice smoke.
Cigars are born raised and stored in areas WAY above 70 degrees - most beetles would have popped out before getting to the distributor. I actually think a slightly higher temp makes the cigars "feel at home" - my humidors are constantly pushing 80.
What I used to do was get those big 2 gallon...
Someone mentioned Grisham - The Partner I highly recommend.
Based on your prior reads and less balls to the wall than Vachss I'd say give Harlan Coben a try - beach read, not a lot of brain cell necessary, start with Tell No One... just overlook some of the outdated technology in some of his...
I uploaded my favorite scene - shocked it was not already on youtube - it has to do with cigars of course....

Not to mention there as a guy with a highly rated Cigar Shop in Sint Maarten who was selling Cohiba Sublimes, every time I went he had the next year available 2005., 2006, 2007 until finally someone probably told him "Psst, hey, they were only produced in 2004"
He now for the past 3 years only...
Obviously his grandmother works in the factory and is able to get her hands on these little gems, or whatever the story is these days - but the grandmother in the factory was always a good one.....
I so much want to enjoy the Mag 46 (Corona Gorda is my #1 figurado - just wish it was 5 1/4 X 47 - picky, I know) but the last purchase was tubos from 2008! Now I know I need to give them another chance. Was probably not a good year for the Mag.
My go tos these days (subject to change)

Many scattered points I would like to make.... I have been worried for years about something changing in Cuba that causes that signature flavor to diminish - be it due to different fertilizer, different weather or pesticides or a change in a bird species pooping (I'm not joking) it's...
Agreed, but Cuba is the only place that produces Cuban cigars, not to sound snarky. Many smokers are extremely partial to that special flavor that only exists in a quality Cuban cigar. I believe "Personal User" might be more interested in prices but I am more worried about the signature Cuban...
Love the blog, only on day 2, nice looking Monte, best photo so far: Princess Fussybottom on the King Size bed at the Ritz (not Cuba), can't wait to get to the rest... (of the Cuba trip that is...)
Well these look really nice, looking for custom wooden tubes is how I found this forum... I have two that I purchased many years ago (from Barclay Rex on Maiden Lane) and although I use them I find myself out and about needing a case but with smaller Corona Gorda or Robusto sized smokes.

Gurkha's not high on my list to try, but I have been partial to LaPalina's Goldies Laguito #5, not really available any more, not a bad afternoon smoke for a non Cuban.
Was a big AF Don Carlos #3 and Robusto smoker a long time ago with an occasional Opus X - not sure if both of those are still...
