Great idea! I think I would prefer the strips to be the same height for the cigars to rest on. If the surfaces were uneven I think it might limit you in storing cigars in a certain direction or possibly damaging the feet if they hit caught, wedged or slipped off a higher piece. The airflow is...

You probably had a bad apple or the cigar wasn't stored properly. I've seen it both ways.
