Actually a more accurate statement than you may think...consider: Majority of AF/Navy folks in direct harm's way are mostly pilots/aircrew. Officers.   -Trey

To be clear: I was NOT the pilot on these runs...I was the enlisted (non-Officer) guy who was far from home.   I am NOT a pilot...I'd love to be, and I have many hours of actual stick time in the girls, but...I'm an Intel guy.   I pick and weaponeer the targets. How and what weapon to use...etc...
