Regarding plume,

That's what I'm thinking.
When I said "wiping" in my original post, I should have said "dusting"? I use a little hand brush...
Lately, it seems to be my good luck to be getting cigars with plume/bloom on the wrappers. My question is: Should the plume be wiped from the cigars before they are smoked? Perhaps this is just a matter of personal preference similar to smoking with the bands on or off. I have not noticed any...
Wilkey, this stuff would be terrific to see. Internet resources always seem to be difficult or expensive to obtain. Those of us no longer at school do not have access to your sources.
Please post some links/documents if you can!!! :D Please??

I have had many erratic results from the salt test method, including the 90%+ phenomenon. I think there are some potential problems with how the salt test is usually described.
Not entirely sure, but I think "iodized" salt may have a slightly different saturated vapor point than "pure" sodium...
I have had this happen after smoking an RyJ(DR) churchill. It took 5 or 6 days for my taste buds to return to normal, and I wasted some otherwise good cigars trying to overcome the problem. I think Wilkey's post was right.
On a different note, could it be your ISOM's are in a dull period? I...
I like the Sancho Panza Extra Fuerte - Barcelona. It is box pressed, 48 ring gauge by 6.5" (6.75"?) and can be found at $45 for 20 plus shipping. These come individually wrapped in cellophane. I leave the cello on these in my desktop humidor as it seems to keep the flavor better than if stored...
Thanks again for the great suggestions!
The JLPC's did not go over as well as hoped for. The wife was stunned that I bought her a box of cigars and expressed her gratitude for my thoughtfulness at trying to include her in my hobby. She did not like the JLPC's as she thought they were "stinky"...
I have gone with the JLPC. It's anybody's guess how this little birthday surprise will go over. Of course, I have also gotten her a "regular" present just in case this whole thing is a bust. I'll give her the smokes when the kids and relatives aren't around though.
If this pans out, it'll be...
Thanks guys!
I think I'll give the Juan Lopez Petite Corona a try. Seems like it might be a good combination of size/price/strength. Besides, if she doesn't like them I suppose I could be forced to smoke them

Hello all. I am thinking of giving my wife an ISOM surprise for her birthday. She usually takes a puff or two of my stogies when I smoke one and she is with me. She hates NC's since "they just taste and smell like cigars", including the expensivos. However, she thinks ISOMs are "interesting" but...
Wanted to take care of several singles left in the humidor this weekend. Saturday, had a Romeo y Julieta (DR) churchill that had been resting for several months: very mild, woodsy, thin smoke, very un-tasty finish. Needed to follow with something stronger tasting: smoked a Monte Cruz Negra...
Great idea man!!! I put in LLNABR04 and got Jose Marti.
I put in JNLJUL03(RyJ CDL#2) and SVFSEP05 (BBF) and got nothing? I do not know much about which codes go where, but I have a few boxes with codes.

On occassion I leave unfinished smokes on a brick in my garage. I usually tap off any ashes and blow it out before that. If the "re"-prelight draw seems acrid I cut some of the previously lit end off. Unfinished can mean anything from two-thirds left to two inches left.
In the winter months...
I bought a cabinet of Romeo y Julieta (DR) Vintage a while back and put them in a humidor that contained a mix of mild to full bodied cigars. The RyJ Vintage were pretty aromatic smelling with a sort of fruity floral bouquet (unlit). After a few weeks I began to notice that the milder smokes...
Has anyone tried putting an ice cube or two in a ziplock baggie and put in their humidor or coolerdor to help keep the temps lower in summer? I have been considering this as an emergency measure if the electricity goes out this summer and there is no a/c.

I would like to take this opportunity to let everyone know how terrific I think this board is!!!
A newbie like myself is certainly presented with a lot of daunting choices to make in this cigar hobby...and many, if not most, are expensive choices. Just knowing that there are so many here that...
The Monte-DR's are mild to medium smokes that bear no resemblance to the ISOM versions. I smoke the DR's for a change of pace or as a warm-up for heavier body fuller flavored smokes. I have found that letting the DR versions rest at 65% to 70% RH for 3 or more months really helps their last...
