Very NICE! That sweet and spicy Boli flavor never gets old. I have a cab from ENE 09 stashed away in the humi that I've been too afraid to break open. If your early 2010 is performing that well, wonder how mine are doing.
Read in ECJ that Habanos SA has pretty much stated that their strategy in the economic downturn is to focus on high-priced limited crap (low sales, big profit margins), which really pisses me off.
I'm no market strategist, and sure, low production/high price crap makes them a pretty penny...
Wish I had a local that sold Illusione, I love the regular HL and the maduro sounds intriguing (unfortunately, the B&M in the town I recently moved to hasn't bought any new lines of ANYTHING in like ten years...owner's really skeptical of anything new, for some reason).
Also saw in the last...
x2 on CBid (or as some call it "the Evil site" because it's addicting)
As long as you don't get caught up in the bidding wars and do something stupid (like paying $73 for a five-pack of AF Hemingways!), you can get some very sweet deals.
Some love SigVI's, some hate 'em. I think they're way too mild for a Cohiba, and to me they just taste "diluted". The non-Siglo ones are my favs (Lancero, Robusto, Esplendido, etc.).
I have to agree with these guys that you can't go wrong with Bolivar and Partagas in just about any size. If...
Sad to say, just about every CC stick I've been gifted from a B&M has been fake, including an entire fake box of Cohiba Seleccion and ERDM Tainos from a dress box (before discontinuation, they only came in unique two-layer slide-lid boxes).
The most egregious case I ever encountered was a B&M...
There are several different brands of so-called "peso" cigar that are consumed domestically. Reloba, Selectos, and Bauza are some of the more commonly-seen brands. Most of them are pretty rough-looking, some have bands, and most come wrapped in paper bundles. Some are machine-made with short...
Based on the advice and another forum where I posted the same question, I picked up a bottle of Signatory-bottled Caol Ila 9YO 43% and a bottle of standard Aberfeldy 12YO. I'll let you know my results.
Anyone out there know a website that sells Japanese market exclusive whisk(e)ys? By this, I'm talking about scotches and bourbons that are made just for the Japanese Market, like Johnnie Walker 1820 or Wild Turkey Tribute.
What!? Nobody is going to recommend Old Grand-Dad!? I thought for sure AVB would've thrown it out there. ???
Seriously, don't let the $17ish price tag fool you...buy the 100 proof "Bottled in Bond" version or the 114 proof (just skip the regular 86 proof one). OGD is very rye-heavy, so if...
I really wish they'd do more with Old Grand-Dad and some of the other brands Beam Global's sucked up since the late 80's.
At least we can thank God they didn't do to OGD what they did to Old Crow! ??? They seriously must've bought that brand just to kill it and mutilate its corpse.
I've...
I've been drinking the hell out of Old Grand-Dad 100 Proof Bottled in Bond (screw the wimpy 86 proof version!).
Have to thank AVB for this one. I probably never would've picked it up if it wasn't for his review. I've discovered over the last few years of exploring spirits that I really love...
I haven't had it was ginger beer...but a good thick, dark rum like Gosling (or Cruzan Black Strap or Meyer's) is really nice and refreshing with some ginger ale and a nice squeeze of lime. :)
I'm with AVB, Wild Turkey Rye 101-proof is tits!
I think I had 40 Creek once at a bar, not sure which expression. Honestly, it didn't leave much of an impression on me.
But in all things, drink what you like! Even better when you find something you love at a low price point (like...
No, it's the 16. I now own a bottle and I taste what, to me, tastes like sherry.
Wouldn't rule out that maybe I'm mistaking the taste for first-fill Bourbon barrels, but I see AVB was tasting the same thing I was. I LOVE that mix of peaty smoke and sweetness, kinda like the Scottish version...
There WAS a scare because they came up on a discontinuation list a while back.......but it was only the version in 50-cabs. The 25-count dress box is still safe and in current production. Still sucks, because these are DEFINITELY worth have fifty of...but it would be an absolute crime against...
