Ok so I originally purchased this ticket a while back. I have been dreaming and anticipating this event, but unfortunately I can no longer make it. The date is June 9th, here is the information (http://www.firestone...l-beer-fest.php). Here is a list of brewers that are going to pour...
Thanks guys I am gonna order a 2 oz piece of it. DO you applie to the lid or the bottom piece? Do you have any pictures if you've done this to your humidor?
Thanks I appreciate all your help with this... I've decided to go with Danish Oil (natural). SO I bought the denatured alcohol and 600 grit papaer...I plan on your advice on steaming the grain and then wiping it down before i apply the oil. I will take pictures of my progress
I think its walnut, adding bands is a great idea. I don't care about matching anything...I want it to have it's own character. I like the fact that it has some shiny, metallic highlights. I would looked to do something extraordinary to it. What is Danish?
Also is there a way to fix the seal...
I've removed the varnish from the lid. Using 150 sand paper and finished with 320 grit. It looks beautiful...the lines, some spots almost metallic looking and shiny. I haven't done any thing else to it.
Hey guys ... well I just wanted to see if anyone on here could point me in the right direction or help me with my new desktop. My wifes grandfather gifted me a 45 yr old humidor desktop, it was his fathers. It was an awesome gift and I wanted to restore this nice piece. I am not great with wood...
Sorry for keeping everyone waiting on this but I am gonna wait a month or so before I jump in. So to anyone wanting this I would suggest getting on it. A lot of great brews in Texas: Saint Arnold, Rahr, 512, Jester King, Live Oak, Southern Star, Real Ale and many more I have yet to try. Who ever...
Its all on preference, but some starters I would try to seek:
Belgian Ales:
Rochefort 8 and 10
Gouden Carolus Carolus D'Or - Cuvée Van De Keizer
Tröegs Mad Elf
Allagash Curieux
Delirium Tremens
Matilda
Redemption
Grimbergen Dubbel
Westmalle Trappist Dubbel
Stouts/Porters/Brown Ales:
Brooklyn...
Those schlafly reserve are awesome...took my 2008 barleywine and 2009 imperial stout to a blind tasting and they got 1st and 2nd. I need to get a couple more and age them.
