I think oxidation is more of an issue than infection. I only secondary when I dry hop as I have had terrible results dry hopping in primary. That being said, I do not lager.
Well, I went to PA today to revisit Pliny the Younger, which I sampled for the first time last year. Last year's event was what catapulted me back into loving beer and or that I am eternally grateful. The king of the day was the half glass of Pliny the Younger I got last year so I was anxious...
Interesting what people call rare. These beers can't be sold even when they're on sale around here. BTW, these are beers that need to be aged and are not that great to begin with.
Utopias really is a feat of crazy proportions because it's damn near impossible to get yeast to eat that amount of sugar. You're paying for the aging time, crazy research, and tons of failed batches IMO. These other beers are just distilled crap and really aren't even beer.

Justin and I have very different tastes, so here are my selections.
Saison DuPont (that's a really good price, which is why they only have 2 bottles)
Allagash White
Great Divide Titan IPA
Lion Stout
Victory Moonglow
Victory Prima Pils
Victory Yakima Twilight
Sierra Nevada Torpedo
Terrapin Rye...
It's not that bad of a deal. I've had the 12 and the 16 and they were both fantastic beers. Probably not worth their price tags, but very balanced and delicious.
