I ran into this problem a few years ago and the solution was very simple. On the back of the air unit is a grate. It was clogged with dust and dirt and needed to be cleaned out. The air unit ran fine after that and I also brought it out from the wall another 6 inches or so. I have had my unit...
If I remember correctly, the wholesale tax on cigars in Canada is 150%. It doesn't matter if the cigars are Cuban or not. I believe the price of a pack of cigarettes is about 8-10 bucks.
I would think about buying a Swiss Army Knife cigar cutter. Yes they are bulky and heavy, but they have the best cut of any cigar cutter out there in my opinion. My original I got in 1998 has cut over 10,000 cigars and the blades are still sharp as a mother.
I have heard very good things...
My first pipe I ever bought was a Savinelli. It retailed for 155.00. It is still in my collection and it still smokes cool and dry. The other Savinelli I own I bought on Ebay. It smokes fine, but the hole doesn't line up and it is a bitch to run a pipe cleaner through it, I rarely if ever smoke...
My favorite is the Rafael Gonzalez cigarrito. They are handmade in Cuba and come in cabs of 50. They have a ton of flavor for such a small cigar and they are not cheap. Going price is about 177.00 delivered.
I also don't care for these. I smoked a couple when they first came out and was not impressed. Burn issues and bitterness were my main issues with this one.
I also use Cuban cigars as a benchmark when comparing other countries cigars. Besides the flavor and construction qualities, I also compare the prices. I find it hard to justify paying 8-9 dollars for a non Cuban corona gorda, when I can buy Cubans for 5-6 bucks for the same sized cigar.
Nice to hear that the Cohiba factory has cleaned up their act, it really was a disgrace.
The cleanest factories I have ever seen has been the Fuente factories. You can literally eat off the floors in them.
After I clip my cigar, I take the band off and throw it away. I don't like smoking a cigar with the band on. I usually nub every cigar so trying to fight with a band once the cigar is lit, is a pain in the ass.
Back in October of 2000 I visited Cuba and went to the Partagas factory ( open to the public) and the Cohiba factory( not open to the public). A friend was able to pull some strings which allowed us to visit the Cohiba factory. What I saw at the Cohiba factory really pissed me off. It was...
Partagas Petite Coronas are awesome cigars. I'm still working on a cab from 1998, and I have a cab of 01's waiting in the wings.
Years ago( around 1998 ) we were getting hand made versions of the Quintero Brevas out of Switzerland. Those were some great cigars. They had huge nose and although...
mrtapes, you are right, 2 boxes is the most any vendor will risk when they are guaranteeing delivery. 10 years ago, shipping prices were so high that the more you ordered the cheaper each box cost you. From Switzewrland it cost about 70-90 bucks an order so we would load up the orders to...
I have 4 Castello's. One is a KK Fiamatta, KKKK Collection, Old Antiquary and a Sea Rock. All are superb smokers, as they smoke cool and dry every time. The Fiamatta I got new by trading Cuban cigars for it. I got a hell of a deal because the guy I sold the cigars to paid big money for them...
Tobacco reviews in my opinion can be an excellent resource . How I use it is as follows; I find a few guys whose tastes are similar to mine. Say a guy loves Haddo's Delight, Escudo, Penzance and Astley's 109. I then look for all of the other blends this guy might like. I try and look for guys...
I have sold quite a few used pipes at Ebay. The reason I sold them was because I no longer for whatever reason, stopped smoking them. Some were too big, others too small. If you are doing business with someone who has an excellent reputation, I would not be shy about purchasing a used pipe.
