    Santo Domingo

I unexpectedly have next week off and was thinking about going to Santo Domingo for a few days and perhaps take in a cigar factory tour or 2. Any recommendations on areas to stay, and tours to take would be appreciated.

    Fakes, seconds or what?

Took up CigSid on his advice to cut a few open and examine. The good news is they were all “clean” of foreign substances. However, the “R&J’s”were all made with short fillers. The “monte 2’s were all made with long fillers.

    Fakes, seconds or what?

my daughter just came back from Cuba and brought me back a couple of boxes of cigars. I had asked her for R&J wide Churchill’s and monte 2’s.Before she left I told her to buy only at LCDH-and nowhere else. But alas, she was in a “gift shop” in Cifuentes that was selling many different types of...

What has been your experience with moldy cigars?

Well, I have to agree that the full year in the “new” cabinet at a low to moderate r/h plus the silver would certainly kill “mold” and would have prevented the other cigars from being affected. I guess the earth is not flat after all!

What has been your experience with moldy cigars?

Corneighdo, I totally get it. There is a lot of of sarcasm offered on this thread to emphasicize what appears to be article of faith-but little in the way of facts. Perhaps you, scap and the “science guy” could share your knowledge and wisdom and explain why, with no change in circumstances...

What has been your experience with moldy cigars?

I took a look at some of the posts on mold/plume and took as close alook as possible at the picture in the first post of the thread. A few observations which leads me to think that this so called“problem” is plume and not mold: first, the cigars wereleft In the same humidor and the white spots...

    Aromatic wood humidor

My wife took a trip to Morocco with 3 of her girlfriends and brought me back a beautiful Humidor made from a very aromatic wood that is indigeonous to Morocco. I think it’s called Thuya wood. Anyway is extremely aromatic. I’ve had it for a few months and the aroma has certainly calmed down a...

    Cigar podcasts

Of late I have been listening to a few varied podcasts and am seeking recommendations: My preference is for podcasts that focus more on cigar culture and information, cigar friendly travel, cigar events-things like that—actually very much like this web site. I am less interested in cigar...

What has been your experience with moldy cigars?

From the picture and description from whylieineedacigar, I agree with corneighdo. That is NOT mold. It is plume-and that is an indication of a very well cared for cigar

    South Boston / Foxborough shops?

There are a couple of noteworthy shops in Boston. Perretti in park square is a very nicel old school shop. It’s been around for at least 50 years and maybe a hundred. Great selection and very knowledgeable staff. There is also a shop on havover street whose name escapes me. It is in the heart of...

i saw this cigar on a Spanish shop web site. It appears to be a very new release. I can't seem to find it anywhere in the states. I emailed the company, but never got a response. Is anyone familiar with it and whether it is even sold in the states?
