2004 Forbidden X Lancero (black wooden coffin)

So I was just in a new cigar shop I have never been to and there was 17 year old in there who was apparently a big time collector. He was a member of this cigar shop so he had a humidity and temp controlled locker in the back where he had like 60 of these in black coffins he said he sells them on ebay for fun. He had about 100 different Opus X and Forbidden X in coffins and tubes for $60 each. I thought that was way too high for one stick so I passed...well I actually purchased a AF Hemingway short story. He also had some 2007 gift set unopened with a few Opus in it as well.

He also had a few of these Forbidden X Royal 8's.

You guys wouldn't pay that much for these would you?

Honestly, I think my "personal" threshold for the title stick would be about $40.00 tops. It all depends on your personal comfort level though. I don't get too bent out of shape like some do, but you have to draw the line somewhere on supporting profiteering. $60.00 is way too much IMHO.

To elaborate, when someone is wondering what folks would pay...it can be seen as hunting for price thresholds.

On CP, sales are at or around MSRP. However there's room for age and rarity.

That is what I was thinking when I wrote this thread. You guys are all extremely fair and sell/trade/pass at msrp and I like that. I was really excited when I saw these HTF sticks because I honestly thought I could buy a few of these and send you guys with a gift in the mail or something. I was really thinking like $15-$25 and I would have bought a few.

But when he said $60 I think I peed a little.

Listen I am a newbie myself but i can tell you one thing for certain, you can impress more members here by being stand up guy, a good community citizen, and solid BOTL, there is no need to go out and buy sticks and drop bombs to impress anyone especially those HTF sticks at those prices.

This is the last thing I doubt about this entire night and then I done with this thread. This kid had a Opus X that looked to be just a regular anejo. He told me to look closely at the stick and ask if I could tell anything different about it. He obviously didn't know my newbie status like you all, but I just guessed and said the wrapper.

He said, "that's right! It's a Maduro wrapper and they don't even make these." He said he had it specially rolled from the factory.

Anyone know if that is bogus?

You know how it feels to be able to find something really nice to PIF with. You know that it's not expected, but it feels really good to be able to go out of your way to do it and make someones day. Especially with something HTF.

I would recommend being patient and continue to look around. Eventually you will be able to pick up some of the cigars you are talking about at or around MSRP. Believe me, I know when you first start this hobby/obsession you want to try things you have never seen. Give it time, build some relationships around here, and you will be blown away by people's generosity.
