My wife and I have been eyeing this new model from GM since we first saw the pictures in 2005. We decided to wait for the 2007 GXP because of all the advertised add-ons. The pricing won't be released until August 1st. GM is doing allocations to dealers based on Pontiac sales. So I figure that they won't be any sitting around on the showroom floor for the next few years.

Hell I figured it was time to treat ourselves to something nice after 20 years serving Uncle Sam and being fortunate enough to get a decent job when I retired.

Does anyone here have a 2006? If so, how do you like it?

Nice choice. I love the new Sostice/sky and the GXP is just that much nicer. Although the mallett LS2/7 swap is rather tempting.

In one of the Car & Driver magazines a couple months ago they had the Mallett LS2 swap with a Solstice.

If you can afford the $20k for the car another $20k for the swap, you'll have the performance of a Corvette with the sexy looks of the Solstice (although IMO the C6 is better looking). The website says that soon a turbo and 6 speed will be available.

Edit: Or if you have $72k laying around, you can get a supercharged 600hp LS2 swapped in, along with all sorts of brake and suspension upgrades.

We are thinking of getting something on that order. However with dealer markup they are in the same range as an Audi TT (which my wife thinks is cuter  anyway)

Robbmt,

Dealers must be doing some serious marking up in MO. If this dealer in Nashville marks it up to a Audi TT price, I will buy a GTO. I can get that for 10K less than the TT.

That Audi is a sharp looking car though.

I said I was fortunate enough to get a decent job, not hit the powerball.
:p

That is one hell of a car though.

Base price around $21,000 Two places told me $34,000 to get on the list

I can get a pre leased two year old TT S series (Quattro 6 cylinder) for that price. With under 30,000 miles. (like new IMHO)

Thinking of finding new job so we will wait and see.

The dealer here is estimating $25,000-$30,000 final price. No indication so far of any funny business. They have been selling the 2006 Solstice for list price (plus tax, title, etc.. normal stuff). I guess we will have to wait and see. The price is supposed to be release August 1st.

That seems like a pretty good deal for the Audi. Almost every car loses so much value in the first two years. 1-2 pre-owned (pre-leased) are usually the best way to go. But the wife is dead set on the Solstice and can't wait another 2-3 years for one. If the dealer jumps the price on me, I will have to get a second job to pay for it.

snip...I will have to get a second job to pay for it.

You could always sell the FLSTF!!!

OK, I'll admit that wasn't funny!!!

What year is your Fat Boy?? (I love those, my favourite Harley of all, with the Road King a close second.)

My Fat Boy is 2003 (100th Aniversary). Originally it was Lava Rich Red. I bought a second set of skins and had them custom painted - sky blue base, black flames, and a colbolt blue candy. It is hard to see the flames unless you are within about 6 feet. Any further away and it just looks deep blue. I still have the 100th Aniversary tank and fenders. I plan to have them custom painted to incorpaorate the Aniverary logo. Haven't yet decided on a design yet.

Bought it overseas through the military before I retired. My retirement gift to myself. The wife would have to choose another car model before I would sell my Fat Boy.

We got my fiancee a TT Roadster 225 hps Quattro. It is a fun car to drive, but I find myself just flooring it around town, taking turns at 30ish, spining the tires at launch, etc... ;) The upkeep has been minimal over the 4 years we have had it, get the tires changed, change the oil, etc.

Spinning tires? Do you have the "ESP" off? My favorite part about my car is flooring at every light and never spinning out. Makes it real hard to drive my wife's Jeep Liberty.

Does she have the baseball optic leather? Wait, Am I driving a chick car? ???

Same exact interior! Yes I turn ESP off, I like to feel the road :) I have to remember to turn it back on though as the fiancee gets a little jumpity :)

Does that ESP make up for winter weather? Wife has only driven a rear wheel drive once in slick conditions -- NEVER AGAIN (HER WORDS)

Front wheel drive is amazing for that, how much does the ESP differ in these conditions?

Then I don;t have to afford the Quattro, even if I want it.

Black? Hope that wasn't the vehicle damaged on the way to the Schatzi Herf! :0 Would have been nice to see it.

I've only disabled ESP on a couple of occasions and noticed a substantial difference. I suppose I am losing some performance though. I use this car year round and the AWD and ESP tear through the snow, ice, and rain. Unless the snow is piled too high that is.

There is one being delivered to my office tomorrow. Unfortunately, it's one of my business partners car. They make em just a few miles from here in Berea. Chuck is a wild man. Took a ride @ 135 on the local expressway last week.

Black it is :) Naw, it was actually my S4, that litterally broke my RS4 replica rim. Took about a week to find another rim as they don't make my style anymore. I think I am going to get them powder coated black this week though which should be pretty cool :)

Quattro is the way to go especially in the ice/snow/rain. I took a road trip this past Christmas from Huntington Beach to Scott City, KS right across the Rockies and I felt extremely safe through the snow flurries. On our second night we actually stayed in Black Hawk, CO which if you know the area you either have a freshly made highway or back roads. Well, Street's and Trips fucked me, and I got stuck taking a gravel road up the side of a mountain with no rail guard. It was pretty crazy, my fiancee was freaking out, but then again she was the navigator so I pretty much blammed her ;) We finally got to Black Hawk, got upgraded to a suite and I sat in the jacuzzi before we went to "Casino Moderation". All the casino's in Black Hawk are min bet $5 and max bet $5 and you can only get a beer every half hour (this rule was broken many a time by myself) still an awesome fun time.

Wow, what a tangent :)

Not an RS4 :0 , not impressed. J/K, the S4 is awesome.
