When I smoked this a few days ago, it was a few degrees cooler the when I smoked the 2021 version, but it is summer and summer gonna do what summer gonna do,
1/3: Wheat, pistachios and sea salt. It got to these notes quickly and stayed with it for the first third.
2/3: Cayenne pepper and milk chocolate, like a chocolate bar with some heat to it. The burn has gotten a little wonky and has required a few touch ups. Perhaps it was due to the fan I had blowing on me. Toasted whet joins in as we close out the middle third.
3/3: Spice kicks up, the toasted wheat becomes wood and the burn...

I just want to start off with stating that I love the color of this band.
1/3: This is a medium bodied cigar with subtle flavor notes to it. A complete 180 from the Jason cigars! There are some wood notes, some tea and some baking spice, like nutmeg perhaps.
2/3: As I enter into the middle third, the nutmeg and tea become more powerful and pronounced. Black pepper spice eventually joins in as we progress towards the final third.

1/3: Again, this variant starts off subtle but with honey and graham cracker with a touch of cedar. Finally I get some pepper on the retro hale. Overall a very pleasant first third.
2/3: In a weird turn of events, the flavor shifted to KC BBQ and as we progressed through it, wasabi joined in! What a shift!
3/3: Worcestershire sauce or umami or both. There is also some heat of the red pepper variety.

Final Thoughts: First I like the subtle flavor notes in this heat of summer. The Jason was too much so the Jekylls were a welcome relief. This particular Jekyll had some flavor...

I do love me a green cigar band. This one has a slight pyramid tapper at the head.
1/3: A bit strong off the bat but then settles down into salted pretzel dough, and a touch of cinnamon sugar- almost like those Auntie Anne's pretzels that you used to find in malls.
2/3: Raw sugar cane, heavy cream and some clover honey. The sweet factor is high.
3/3: Sharp turn towards heavy black pepper spice with some wheat. The salt does come back into the fold and finally a touch of cinnamon sugar before it dies out.

1/3: Light pepper at first but then it becomes buttery and tangy in a fruit sort of way. Leaving the first third, the butter continues on and the fruit takes on a more stone fruit taste.
2/3: Stone fruit and stone ground wheat crackers.
3/3: The stone ground wheat crackers really shines through with some pickled rhubarb on the back end.

Final thoughts: This cigar could not be further from the 2021. Turned out to be a nice cigar for a summer evening.IMG_6452.jpeg

All I can say is if you ever get bored of regular flavor profiles provided in most reviews then this is the right thread for you. Even the cigar companies can learn and incorporate some of these findings in their future developments

Jumping right into it-
1/3: Toasted gingerbread and cinnamon.
2/3: Wheat joins in with the toasted gingerbread and the cinnamon.
3/3: Some sort of peppery spice dominated the final third.

Final thoughts: It was good, but the lack of flavor diversity and transitions was disappointing. Very unlike the 2021 in that regard.

Without further adieu, here is the 2024 version of "salty steak on salty steak on salty steak with peppercorns":
1/3: Black pepper spice with muted cayenne pepper.
2/3: Charred steak with pepper corn crust and a little bit of wheat on the after taste.
3/3: More charred steak with the pepper corns.

Final thoughts: Well damn, I wasn't expecting an almost exact version of the 2021. That hasn't happened yet and I was looking forward to something different. I have to give props to the Chuck for being the most consistent between the 2021 and the 2024 variants but I would have preferred...

Another proper robusto. I dry boxed this one for a few days and picked an absolutely wonderful morning to smoke this- low 80's with acceptable humidity for Central Virginia.
1/3: Red pepper spice and some salt on the initial retro hales. The salt stays but the red pepper is replaced with a sweet, bready flavor.
2/3: Now the salt morphs into the red pepper spice, while the sweet bready notes continue.
3/3: The sweet bready flavor is now paired with some charred oak.

Final thoughts: Not bad. It had more transitions then the Chuck, but I'd stick it in the bottom half if I were to rank...

Somewhat unfortunate news, but I mis-smoked the Michael (has a black band) thinking it was a Tat black a week ago and mistakenly listed the Chuck as the Michael. Not having any notes on the one Michael that I smoked, I will have to smoke the other Michael with nothing to compare it too. Bummer, but I'm going to have to chock it up to 1st World Problems.
I will be going back and renaming the current Michael and Chuck reviews to reflect what they actually are.
Sorry for my inability to understand colors and how they work.

Just keep it to the 3 Primary colors and you'll be fine. Anything after that, can get confusing.

Having now realized my error, I'm circling back to the actual Michael and doing the review of the 2021 Monster Mash. Unfortunately, the 2024 Michael Monster Smash died a tragic death in a fire, so I will have to use AI to recreate the 2024 experience. But this is 2021 and Humans still exist, so here is the 2021, Human version of the Michael.
1/3: Toasted marshmallows and graham crackers- but no chocolate. Its just shy of a S'more.
2/3: A hint of cinnamon emerges and joins the cinnamon with a little bit of butter.
3/3: Cinnamon and butter are the predominant ending flavors.

With getting all the confusion now sorted out, it is time to get back to the work:
1/3: Heavy cream and nutmeg with some sugar cane.
2/3: The heavy cream gets a bit sweater and a bit lighter as cedar joins in.
3/3: Sugar cane joins the front of the pack along with the sweet cream.

Final thoughts: Again, consistent but I appreciate the sweetness as opposed to the spicy steak and pepper flavors.IMG_6571.jpeg

Down to the last 2 pair:
1/3: Clove spice with a bit of generic cola added in. Every so often, I get the taste of marinated steak- like what you get when your preparing shish kabobs an you are marinating some cut up steak prior to that.
2/3: Generic cola, maybe RC cola actually now that I think about it, and marinated steak.
3/3: Steak with a zesty (A1 sauce comes to mind) steak sauce added to it.

Final thoughts: Interesting flavors (clove, RC cola and marinated steak) but it seemed rather consistent with the flavors and this is a bit of a negative for me.
