Okay, so, I know that I have only tried two from 5 Vegas, but I am really starting to think that they don't make a stick that I like. Last night I sat out with a 5 Vegas Gold, thinking that possibly this gilted torpedo might prove to be a bit better than the Classic.
Being that I'm not a fan of lighter shade cigars, I should have known better.
After filling my little humi, I moved my lighter shade cigars to a tupperware container that does a wonderful job of holding humidity between 70 and 85%. I took the torpedo out and noticed that the wrapper had a few dark spots on it, not a big deal to me. The wrapper had a couple minor flaws that didn't effect anything in the long run. The foot held a hay type smell, maybe a little bolder, and when I did a pre-light draw I noticed a grassy taste... maybe leaning toward the hay that I sensed in the foot.
The stick lit very well, and burned quite slowly and fairly evenly. It produced a dark ash with some light grey highlights. I never really allowed the ash to build up because as I got into the cigar I started to wish that I was finished with it. There never really was a wow to it, and the flavor remained largely bland.
However, the draw was perfect all the way through.
Quite frankly, I would smoke one of these only if it was gifted to me. I can't say that I was disappointed with it because I didn't have any expectations before I began, but there are several other sticks of the same price that I will go for first, everytime.
